Has anyone tried Master Cleanse using raw honey instead of maple cyrup? Will you report the result?

I feel like there's some super special reason it's maple syrup but I can't think of why that is.

The super special reason is that someone wanted to sell maple syrup. It's not raw and it's not a health product!

My husband and I both have used the raw honey. I didn't notice anything different. The longest with eh MC was 10 days for me and 2 weeks for my hubby. I prefer juice fast/feasts. My longest was 28days. I most likely will not do the MC anymore and stick with the juices :)

I believe the originator for the MC, Stanley Burroughs, says the Maple Syrup is for the calorie content. Many on here do not like it for their own personal reasons, but I did it for 18 days and absolutely loved it! I'd be interested in doing it again (raw version without the Maple Syrup), so I'm curious how this will turn out for you. I tried switching to raw Agave when I did it, but didn't like the taste (I know some have an issue with Agave...).

I do like juicing with fruits veggies too, though. I don't have an issue doing either one, especially cuz I'm a Lemon-a-holic!!!! LOL! I just don't know if I'd ever post about it on here, if I chose to do it again. I'd probably just do it privately, if I did...

The reason they use maple syrup is because of the nutritional aspects of maple syrup.

Obviously a raw forum isn't going to agree with the nutritional aspects LOL that's no surprise.

My concern with doing that cleanse with raw honey is this.

Your body will be living on straight sugar - not much else at all. That isn't healthy for your liver. Since the point of fasting is to give your organs a rest, a chance to cleanse and heal... this is counter-productive and in my opinion you will doing your body more harm than good.

Just cause it's my opinion doesn't make it right or true... but it is what I believe. And since you asked for opinions... I thought I'd gift you with mine. :)

I agree with Aleesha. It's not well-rounded nutritionally because the plants and veggies are missing.

I'm on the master cleanse right now and tomorrow is my last day although I may extend it until sunday. It hasn't been that difficult at all probably 'cause I've been detoxing with fruits for some time. I did use maple syrup... Yummy, tastes like chocolate.

I have no doubt that people experience great things while doing the master cleanse.

What I do doubt is the reason why they experience these benefits. I don't think it's the detoxifying effects of the lemon nor do I think it is magic released from the cayenne pepper and grade-B organic maple syrup.

The Master Cleanse is a water fast with added sugar.

We all know the crazy amazing things that occur on a water fast. When you the sugar is added, the calories help to prolong the fast.

To answer the original question, I think swapping the maple syrup for another source of sugar should have no impact on the results.

i can't even imagine the damage a liver takes during a cleanse where all you drink is honey water or maple syrup water...

*sad sigh*
