Hi I just found out about Raw Vegan eating couple days ago and it really made sense to me so im trying it I guess. I am 5'7 and 255 lbs. I figure I have around 75-80 lbs. of fat to lose I would really like to be at around 175ish. Starting a water only fast for a few days to start out and appreciate food more I guess as well as to help kickstart detox or something. I am 20 years old turning 21 on the 20th of november. Work and live in Alexandria, Virginia fixing computers hardware/software, network what have you. Love lifting weights and just signed up for a year long gym membership and also 3 months personal trainer. Dont know how eating raw fruit and veggie diet is gonna work out with working out at the gym but I guess Ill just eat tofu or whey powder or something. Anyone from northern virginia?

There's huge misconception about needing to eat protein to get protein. You absolutely do not need to eat tofu, protein powder, etc. to get protein. Your body manufactures it from all raw plant food, fruits, vegetables, etc.

Think of a gorilla and where it gets its strength. Our bodies were built on a similar order.

Just make sure you are eating enough and you will be fine. There are tons of raw body builders and stocked-up bodies out there.

Welcome!

It'll be a challange for you to educate yourself, and your personal trainer at the same time! Be careful not to fall for outdated, false theories about food and exercise!

Sharon's right, you'll get all the protein you need from veggies. I kick box, and have been 100% for 42 days. A couple days ago someone mentioned that I hit harder than ever!

But *if* you feel better supplementing your protein, raw hemp protein powder is the best way to go. Alissa has some available on her site, under "supplements."

I hope you change your screen name soon!!! ;)

You were pointed to some excellent information regarding bodybuilding/protein, and if you follow this link, you will find an excerpt from Alissa's book regarding protein.
