I just posted 3 recipes for gingerbread. After posting it said that it wouldn't be visible until it was approved by a Moderator. I've never encountered that before. Can someone tell me what it's about? Thanks :)

Ooooh Debs! Looks as though you are getting moderated. You must have ended up on the wrong permissions list when the anti-spam measures were brought in. It makes you seem quite the rebel :)

You're not alone, Debs...

Paranoia runs high here on RFT, unfortunately, and I genuinely think it is counter-productive, because it's fear-based, reduces the credibility of Alissa's board and censorship is a negative thing generally. The mods have been shooting themselves in the foot, in this way, for years, and have consequently earned an undesirable reputation, as such, for RFT. So short-sighted and a real shame because in other respects RFT is a great forum.

I'm not American but I know Alissa is.

Now what is the First Amendment of the constitution..?

Maybe the constitution doesn't apply to the raw vegan community, I dunno.

it's just an error I am sure. No-one could think Debs was trouble. She's one of the least qualified in the trouble department. I'm sure someone will fix it soon.

It has nothing to do with us - as moderators or admins. It's the new anti-spam software we are using.

You know how we don't have 200+ on the forum everyday? Well this is why.

I'll be sure to accept the posts. Obviously something in the posts (who knows what it is???) put a red flag onto the posts LOL

Relax, breathe... it'll be online in a moment.

in light,
Aleesha

If anyone else gets a message like this... please email me right away with a link to the thread you were posting in and I'll get it approved.

I didn't even get a notification of this one (from the board itself)... so I'm going to check as to why it happened and I wasn't notified.

It's frustrating sometimes I know... it is for us as well. Sorry for the delay Deb. (it's in the thread now)

Thanks for the support Arky.

We, as the moddies and Admin here simply keep everyone within the posting guidelines set out by Alissa. It's her forum, her rules. Pretty simple really. I'm sorry if you don't like them but we (as moddies and admin) aren't here to censor anyone, we are here to keep the posts on topic.

I don't visit other raw forums anymore because of the fighting, flaming etc. on the boards. I like that it's a friendly space here that focuses on raw foods and a raw lifestyle.

Of course that doesn't mean it's everyone's cup of tea. That's what is so beautiful about the net. You can always find somewhere that you fit in beautifully. (((hugs)))

Thanks everyone and thanks Aleesha for letting me know it's the new software. I thought maybe someone had tried one of the recipes I posted and it was a dud! *Ü*

I just found the area that the posts were being held. There were posts of mine and others there too. I approved the ones from regular members and deleted the huge amount that were spam.

It's a long and tiring process. I spend over an hour a day approving things now with this new software. I'm so sorry I didn't even realize I had to approve posts now (the web god we employ didn't tell me) - but I know now. I'll check it daily.

Thanks for the heads up. We are all still trying to learn how to use the new tools that were put in place.:tea:

I know I appreciate your efforts and the time you put in to make this forum what it is. I too have tried other forums and I like this one the best. You and the other moderators do a tremendous job!!!!:heart

I just began a new website and I'm getting 1-3 spammers signing up daily. I'm usually catching them before they get a chance to post yet, even with that little bit it's a total pita; it's 1000+ times worse here. I don't know how they're not getting on my other site as well as Rawkin' Radio but, their being caught and stopped, no work involved on my part. Now, if I can just figure out how that's happening.....

And Arky, that was uncalled for. Have you seen the amount of spam previously on this site? It's amazing! Unless you're the one dealing with it....

Every forum has it's faults and this one is no different in that respect but it is still the best one and if anyone thinks this one is strict, they should try some of the vegan ones - one of them doesn't allow raw vegans to join on the grounds that they are not real vegans!

I moderate elsewhere, so I do understand the demands on moderators, in these days of spambots (and human spammers). Nonetheless, I stand by my remarks about RFT with regard to excessive post/thread deletion, from time to time. They're not without legitimate basis.

However, I concede that your point, above, is a fair one, too.
Indeed, my remarks weren't aimed at you personally, Aleesha, but rather at the rather 'neurotic' atmosphere that inevitably arises from excessive control over what people discuss, even within the confines of raw vegan diet.

I'm glad you've established that, on this occasion, it was just an over-zealous spam filter. Happy days.

How's your oxy-cleanse coming along, by the way? ;-)

Honestly we might moderate one post every few months. If that's too strict than I'm not sure what you are looking for LOL The members here know what's cool to talk about and what's off limits and they are a GREAT bunch of people. I adore this site and the members. I think we have a nice diverse group of people who believe different things but have this gorgeous vein of rawness running through them. (((hugs)))

But Arky you are totally welcome to your thoughts on things. That's the beauty of life... we all have a different 'veil' that we view it through and so something that is minor to one person is major to another. In the end, it all balances out (in most cases).

Just for the record... so everyone is aware of what is happening behind the scenes. I am deleting anywhere from 30-80 spammers per day. At the moment I'm spending anywhere from 15 - 90 minutes a day doing my administration stuff - deleting behind the scenes. Hence why my posts are so rare... my volunteer position here is taking up all my spare time. I have to spend the rest of my time doing what I do to pay the bills. *smiling* (Thanks to my amazing moddies who assistance keeps me from having to spend even more time)

So having a few posts get moderated by my computerized assistant is a small price to pay for how much more time I'd be spending if it wasn't in place. *loving technology for spam!!!*

I'm having such a lovely day today... bliss... absolute bliss. :kisses:

smiles and wanders off to meditate

*Arky: I didn't order the colon stuff. I decided against it. You know me... I'd rather do what I can without 'extras'. I'm a 'keep it simple' kinda woman.
