need a good tasting substitute. I'm working on a new me and want to start out with a 4 day juice fast and have been gathering ingredients but no kale to be seen- I was thinking possible spinach, and someone gave me a bag of fresh turnip greens yesterday (soaking as we speak), possible collard greens.

I'm tired of headache (have had this current one for 2 days), feeling fatigued so I'm weaning my kids off of processed foods a little at a time so they don't notice (yeah right I have a 12 yr old ds lol)

any comments, suggestions, advice most welcomed.

getting ready to have my warm lemon water.

Those subs are fine. Kale is good but not mandatory :)

thanks, I used turnip greens.
here's my mix:
1 small granny smith apple
1 stalk celery
2 stalks turnip green leaf
1/2 lemon with most of skin removed
1 large golden delicious apple

first time i've juiced that i liked the combination of flavors.

I've always found it hard to juice collards but turnip greens and spinach are great!

I quite like to add a thumbnail sized piece of ginger root sometimes to give the juice some zing!!!

A bunch of parsley adds a unique flavor too but I don't use it all the time.

Remember to include a little seaweed in your diet (not juiced, obviously), since raw brassicas can be goitrogenic, and if you're on a juice fast, you're going to be consuming a relatively large quantity of brassica nutrients.

No biggie.

Oh, and don't forget that although not as good as dark leafy greens, cauliflower is nonetheless a viable, nutritious, and pleasant candidate for juicing.
