Hi everyone!

I live a fantastic, fabulous life in an African city and am actively adding more raw food into my life -- and loving every bit of it.

My house runs on solar power, which I love, but it does mean we juice by hand and can't run a food processor -- just a little hand blender. This limits my recipe-making somewhat.

So does not having a dehydrator -- but I'm working on having a village carpenter make a solar dryer, so we'll see how that goes!

My favorite raw food is hand-grated cucumber juice. I cannot get enough.

I really look forward to being a member of this community. Thank you for your welcome.

Welcome! Solar dryer would be cool. Being in a warm country you must have easy access to a lot of yummy, tropical fruits?

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to hearing more about your lifestyle. I live largely off-grid but I get some juicing and blending done at work which is helpful :) I too have looked at the possibility of a solar dehydrator but we really don't get enough sun!

the kids made some solar ovens as a homeschooling project. if i remember correctly it was a box with tin foil on the lid? (it was probably more complicated than that LOL) i guess the hard part would be making sure it didn't heat up too much.

i do know that people sun dry things... so perhaps even just laying the items out on wood planks in the sun would work.
