Greetings...
I'm glad to be here! I've been drinking in the site, browsing recipes, reading what everyone has to say.
How wonderful that I'm not alone, not at all. Is anyone else in Central Oregon? I'm in Redmond, well, 6 miles outside of town.
This is how I came to raw food:
It'll be 3 years on November 17th that I suddenly slipped into a diabetic coma, spent a week in intensive care, and came out as a brittle Type 1 diabetic. Since then it was as though my personal warranty expired. Despite extraordinary efforts, my eyesight began to fail, I was diagnosed with the onset of kidney disease, fibromyalgia, and -- this summer -- neuropathy.
I've been faithfully doing Iyengar yoga for 2 years, working with an acupuncturist and a colon hydrotherapist. I think this has been helping. I've changed my diet over the past 3 years to no dairy or eggs & more raw.
Now I'm taking the next step.
When I began to lose sensation and functionality in both arms & my right leg, I knew that I had to do something else.
On my birthday, October 29, I decided to go 100% raw. Started the next day. So far, so good.
I've been browsing the web, took a teleseminar with Gabrielle Chavez -- who suggested that I check out this site & forum -- and began experimenting.
That's it...
