one is Fuyu, the other Hachiya.

what to do with them... I've never had one before.

peel or not??? the skins are getting spotty already - but this thread says they must get very squishy before ripe and these are not too squishy yet.

It will suck all the saliva out of your mouth, It's honestly something that can't be described. Of course this was an old farmer trick ( they grew around the pastures and hayfields where I grew up. My grandfather had me eat one in late summer ( I love them ripened) but the one I had was not. It's a running joke there.

Had several trees where I used to live. The Fuyu should be eaten as you would an apple--somewhat firm and crisp. Watch for the large black seeds if any. The Hachiya needs to be really soft--would not think it would be appetizing but is exceedingly sweet and tasty. Eat with a spoon or put in smoothies. Quite a treat.
