I saw "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" this summer and immediately went out and bought a Ninja juicer. Then my wife yelled at me, because she had a $300 juicer that was given to her and was sitting in her parent's basement unused, still in the box. I did a 3 Day fast, following the plan on the FSAND site I found.

I followed the 10 day plan next and lost a lot of weight, but it wasn't a fast. It was more like a vegetarian diet with vegetable juice. But I was shocked to see that the plan wasn't like what I thought the truck driver was doing in the movie.
I'm over 320 pounds. I have no health problems aside from being "obese" according to BMI charts. I played college football, but that was 15 years ago. I went in my freshman year weighing 240 @ 6' tall. The coach told me if I wanted to start, I would need to put on 50 pounds. I put on 70 over 2 years, being able to squat 700 (still can) and bench press 500 (not so much now), and run a mile and a half in 12 minutes (which was good for a guy my size). Now that I'm much older, I don't need this weight anymore. I'm still active, I ran my first 5K two months ago and plan to do another before winter comes, but it all hinges on this question, would a 60 or 90 day juice fast be okay for me to do? It would be great if I could get a juice fast coach. I'm tired of being this big!

Hiring a fasting coach isn't hard to do... (check my sig line). As for doing a fast... yup, you can totally do that as well.

Congrats on creating change in your life!

You might want to check my interviews with Philip and Clent on Rawkin Radio. They were both over 400 pounds. Philip McCluskey eliminated 200 pounds in 2 years; Clent eliminated that much in 1.

Welcome! Yes, a long juice fast is possible. You'll have to make sure you get enough nutrition by juicing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. I'm not sure all what Phil the truck-driver was juicing in that film, but I think he was juicing Kale among other things.

An interesting note about Phil and the film is that Joe Cross had paid for him to do a 10 day juice fast by that lake in Iowa. At the end of the 10 days, Joe asked him how he felt, and he said, "Great. I'd like to continue".

I think Phil spent 60 days juicing at that resort until Joe Cross finally decided to pull the plug on financing Phil's stay at the hotel. Joe was also paying for a cameraman to stay there plus his wages.

So anyhow, you might want to set a shorter goal than 90 days at least for a start, something like 10, 14, 21, or 30 days, and then if or when you reach your target, see how you are doing and if you want to continue.

Also, you have to think that while you are juice fasting, your diet consists of fresh fruits, vegetables and leafy greens. If you don't want the weight to come back after you finish your fast, you are basically going to have to continue eating a diet for the most part consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. That is where raw veganism comes into play adding nuts and seeds into the mix. Maybe you and your wife can try to find some raw vegan recipes and see how you like them. You'll be surprised at how good things can taste.

Congratulations on your 5K race and your desire to get fitter. I think you'll find by changing your diet to vegan and or by juice-fasting you will end up with more energy and it should be easier for you to run, at least after any initial detox effects you might feel for the first week or two of your fast.

So welcome, take a look around the forum, and good luck on your journey!

Alissa's first book would be a GREAT place to begin as she's got a daily meal plan with all the recipes and stories of people who've eliminated excess weight and so much other good information.
