My mom has borrowed all my Alissa stuff... I am craving some sort of tuna or salmon pate because I made some raw caraway rye crackers.
Can anyone give me a recipe?
BTW, I thought this was cool, my mom's doctor said that raw foods and "ancestral diets" is where it's at, and recommended raw food to my mom.

I can not give you Alissa's recipe because that is just something I don't do. However, I am more than happy to give you Cindy's Mock Tuna recipe since it is already published on the internet.
Cindy's Mock Tuna Salad
4 cups almonds
5 stalks celery, diced
6 green onions, sliced thin
2 tbs. parsley
5 tbs. lemon juice
2 dashes cayenne
1 medium clove garlic, crushed
1 1/2 - 2 tsp. Celtic sea salt
1 sheet nori seaweed, soaked briefly, then chopped (I use 1/4 C whole dried nori leaves soaked for 5 minutes, adjust to your liking)
Puree Almonds in a food processor until fine. In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and half of the Avocado Mayo. Add more Mayo as needed. Enjoy atop a piece of Romaine or Napa cabbage, and a slice of tomato.
Avocado Mayo: Blend until creamy
1 cup pine nuts
1 large avocado
1 tbs. lemon juice
2 tbs. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. Celtic sea salt
6 medium pitted dates (3 packed tbs.)
1/2 clove garlic
*The above recipe came from living-foods.com and it was submitted to that site by Elaine Nigro. It is published on the internet so this recipe is no secret. Therefore, me giving it out is ok in this situation. I would not recommend ever posting one of Alissa's recipes online though. (unless she puts it there)

Thanks Samuel! I understand not giving alissa's recipe, no probs, plus if I remember right, you had to sprout for some days first, so something that could be made right away is what I was hoping for anyway. I don't have almonds though and don't feel good about any of the ones I can buy locally... maybe I can wing something based on that recipe though. The other recipe I have from a book I wasn't happy with, used carrot pulp from the juicer.

exurb, if you can't get organic almonds, just use regular almonds from the grocery store. (as long as they are not roasted) The almonds are the one thing you really can't substitute in Cindy's Mock Tuna. The blended almonds act as the texture simulator for blended tuna.

I've made the Avocado Mayo and really like it. I'm not a big avocado eater but this was tasty. I cut the number of dates down to 3 or 4, but it was still sweet enough for me.

Yeah, I really liked that mayo myself. It has a green color and turns your recipe into a greener shade, but it is very good.
Oh, I wanted to mention something here to get an opinion. I am really starting to see the color green as appetizing. Like when I see a green cucumber, I am thinking hey, that looks good. I am the only one who finds green to be appealing?
When I was a fruitarian, green meant not ripe. It is weird that my perception has changed with the color green.

Alissa's Mock Tuna is posted online already. I believe it's on the recipe page on her website. It is wonderful!!! I added a little bit of carrot and celery to it and it was so yummy! I ate it wrapped up in romaine leaves with tomato and avo slices!

Faux Salmon (or Mock Tuna)
2 cups almonds, soaked 8-10 hours
2 whole carrots
1/2 cup coarsely chopped red onion
1 1/2 cups finely minced celery
1/2 cup minced parsley
1/4 cup minced shallot or scallion
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons kelp powder
1 teaspoon dulse powder or granules
1 tablespoon liquid amino's , 2 teaspoons nama shoyu or 1 teaspoon sea
salt
Soak almonds 8-12 hours, drain, rinse and drain again. Put the almonds,
carrots and onions through the heavy-duty juicer, using the blank
screen. Place mixture in a large bowl, add celery, parsley, shallots,
lemon juice, kelp, dulse, liquid amino's or sea salt and stir thoroughly.
Shape into a mold or place in a pie crust. Or shape free hand like a
fish. Keeps several days, covered, in the refrigerator. Serves 4-6.

thanks everyone, I sort of combined both those recipes and concocted something, and I made Alissa's mock salmon pate as well. In the tuna I used both nori sheets and kelp powder, and man did it taste tuna-ey.

Just wanted to post an update. I tried Cindy's Mock Tuna using Kelp Powder instead of soaked nori. It worked in giving the recipe a "from the sea" taste. However, nothing compared to the just adding chopped soaked nori. I was just trying to figure out a way to give it a sea taste with out having the pieces of black nori seaweed in the recipe.
I just thought I would mention my little find though. I know finding dried kelp powder is probably easier than finding raw nori because most nori is sold as toasted nori sheets with a green tint.

Sam, you can cut up a raw nori sheet into bits and put it in a coffee grinder. Takes a little doing but you can get a powder.
I like the raw nori from Goldmine foods, if anyone's having trouble finding raw nori.

BTW, I thought this was cool, my mom's doctor said that raw foods and "ancestral diets" is where it's at, and recommended raw food to my mom.
That is SO COOL! Is your Doctor a conventional one? I also found out from my husband today, that our family Doctor, conventional medicine, is against flu shots. I'm amazed at this as there are free clinics ALL OVER around here to give people the shot. My hubby said that last year when he went to see the Doctor for something unrelated, the Doctor said to him "I hope you're not here for the flu shot", to which my hubby replied a quick "no" because we don't believe in it, and he said good because I don't want to give them. He proceeded to tell my husband that the flu shot weakens your natural immune system, and it's rarely effective anyway because every year it's developed based on the previous years strains of the flu which mutates to different strains the year it's supposed to be "protecting" you.
Sorry to hijack the thread. :o

I made Alissa's Mock Salmon Pate for the first time last night. Rolled it up in green leaf lettuce leaves. I was laughing while doing that because I'd never used leaves for anything like this before so they didn't roll so great. My mom came over and wanted to try some and she really liked it. My father had a taste of the pate on a spoon because he had already ate. He said he liked it, too.
It was yummy. And I have some left over, too. yum.

Yes, Alissa's Mock Salmon Pate is wonderful! I just made her Almost Tuna today and I was surprised that I really liked it too, given the ingredients I was doubtful! But I put it in romaine leaves and ate them taco style. This recipe will go on my long list of favorite Alissa recipes!
I'll post a picture of the Almost Tuna when I download the camera later on today or tomorrow, but here is a picture of the Mock Salmon Pate which I make quite often.
