How long to soak dates for?

Hey all quick question, I have medjool dates and I want to make Alissa's pecan pie recipe. It calls for soaked dates, but how long do I need to soak these medjool dates for? Or should I not soak em :confused: Thanks. :D

I don't think you really need to soak them if they are medjool dates but soaking certainly won't do any harm. I just made a recipe which called for soaked dates and used medjool ones unsoaked and it turned out alright so you are probably okay without soaking them.

Alissa says in her book that you don't have to, but soaking the dates will make the recipe more smooth and creamy. I think she says approx. 2 hours for the soaking. :)
