Hi folks,

I've had weight issues all of my adult life, and back in 2005 - 2006 things clicked for me and I was 100% raw for about a year. I got a healthy weight, and that was the only time in my life that I had the energy to really enjoy life. Since then, I have tried to find "balance" between the cooked world and the raw world, while staying a healthy size and feeling good... but I've realized it's just not possible for me.

Monday, October 1st, I'm starting my commitment to myself to be 100% raw for six months. I have to have an "end" date just for psychological reasons. My desire is really to stay raw for the rest of my life.

To start preparing myself, and get out of the mindset of what I "can't" have during that time, I made a list of all my favorite recipes from Alissa. I am SO excited about what I CAN have, that I can't wait to get started! Here's a list of just a few of the things I am so looking forward to having again:

Pesto stuffed mushrooms warmed in the dehydrator
Enchiladas
Carrot Pecan Burgers
Chili
Pizza Bread
... and the one thing I never took out of my diet, even when eating SAD... Date Nut Torte!

I've got about 100 lbs to loose at this point, my "goal" as unrealistic as it may sound, is to lose 85 lbs in those first six months. Based on my previous experience with raw, I actually think this may be possible.

I welcome you to share your thoughts with me, tell me good luck, tell me I'm nuts, either way, it'll spur me on!

As I start this journey, I look forward to getting to know some of you, and being a part of your journeys as well.

Good luck! It's funny you set your goal for 100 lbs. but realistically you're hoping for 85, 'cause it's that last '15' lbs. everyone says is the hardest, lol.

I am with you on the 6 months, eventually life-long raw living food. I eat 2 meals raw and one not right now. I will be looking forward to reading your progress. Motivation seems to be my biggest downfall.

Again, good luck!

Peace, Bonnie

Thanks Bonnie! How long have you been incorporating raw meals? What I'm pretty much realizing is that when I tried to "balance" having some cooked food, it just took me down a slippery slope. I have to be 100% raw, cold turkey, otherwise I'll stay where I'm at, which is not a good place.

Greetings!

Welcome and I wish you the BEST of rawesome health!! As for the 85 lbs in 6 months on 100% raw? It's DOABLE :D I lost 80 lbs in only 8 months on very high raw - so I am here to say that if you don't hit it spot on, you'll at least be darn close!

Best of Luck:)

Thanks Mattye Lee! Your success is definitely an inspiration to me!

Not to take anything away from your triumphs, but way back in 2005, a lady named Carlene frequented this board, and she actually lost over 100 lbs in less than 6 months. That was just craaazeeee! I found her old post

Then I saw the Raw Food Boot Camp she started back then is going strong, http://www.rawfoodbootcamp.com/ and many of her members are losing 100 lbs in 7 months! Raw food is amazing :woot:
