I hear some say that if people have stopped losing weight or have not its possible because their calorie intake is too low.... But then when your calorie intake is 0 during a fast you lose weight. This confuses me and kind of contradicting.

When your on a fast you detox alot of old stuff. Once that is out of the way you really start losing weight. I know I sure did when I had a 5 day water fast. I ended up losing 40 lbs in all in one month 14 on the fast and the rest after that mostly eating fruits after coming off the fast. Also kept the water up too. I drink like a gallon a day when I need it. Doug in Calif... :) ;) :eek:

Science is sometimes confusing to me, too.
My experience has been that I always burn more fat when my metabolism is high. I maintain a high metabolism by eating a "lot" of healthy raw fruits and vegetables with small amount of nuts and seeds and exercising vigourously.
I've never done a fast so I can't speak to that end. I've never been one to fast personally because I don't like depriving myself. I become irritable if I go more than a few hours without eating during the day -- but, to each his own.

Hi Rawling, When your calorie intake is too low, your metabolism slows down and so will weight loss. During a water or juice fast you mostly lose water weight and you will gain most of it back once you start eating again. Some of the weight u will lose from a fast is from the toxins in your fat stores. If you do a water fast your metabolism will drop really low and you wont burn as many calories as you would on a juice fast, most if not all of the weight loss on a water fast is water weight. thanks for all the help...how can you lose water weight if youre still dirnking a gallon of water a day or more?

Rawling, if you go 100% raw, and eat however much you desire within those parameters being sure to include variety, you do not need to worry about or figure out caloric intake at all. You will lose weight. Your metabolisim will be better than ever. :)
So simple! :)
