It seems like I remember some recipes for raw egg nog posted last holiday season and they were great but I did a search and can't find them! I hope someone else can locate them, my search ability isn't working tonight but some raw egg nog sure does sound good!

This is my version of classic eggnog, without the egg or the nog

Eggnog
2 cups almond milk
5 medjool dates (pitted)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2" vanilla bean or 2 tsp vanilla extract
1 T olive oil (optional, but makes it taste about 10 times richer, like an egg nog)
dash of sea salt

Garnish with:
Dash of nutmeg on top

You can turn it into a milkshake, by adding 1/2 cup of ice.

I sometimes use less vanilla depending on the type of vanilla bean I am using. and I also varry the spice depending on the strength of the spice, if you add ice to it, you need to up the spices to counter act the numbness your tongue will have, which causes you not to taste as keenly.

RP, that sounds awesome... Thanks for sharing! :)

I will have to test it out soon! :) I'll take the ingredients to my family's Christmas, and make it without the traditional shot of rum in it!! I wonder which batch they will choose....

Sounds devine, thanks! :p

This is absolutely delicious. You'll never miss SAD eggnog again after trying this. I did use the oil and it is just as decadently rich as the original. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! :D

It doesn't take on the "olive oily" flavor? I must try this soon!!

Rawkinlocs,

No, it didn't. I guess the almond milk and dates and all the other spices covered it up. It just makes it richer tasting. YUM-MY! :D

Oh Autumn,

I am sooooo glad you like it, I drink it almost every day, yummmmmmmy

Just to let everyone know,

I use the olive oil, because it adds that really rich "heavy" taste of eggnog.

I don't use coconut oil, as it sets at a cool temperature, and can turn to kind of a thick pallet coating in this cool drink.

But it is your choice what oil you use.

I just know it tastes great with the olive oil, however, it is totally optional.

For a rich eggnog without the oil, make a richer milk using almonds and cashews or almonds and Brazil nuts. :)
