Anyone use "The Easy Green Sprouter"???

My MIL loves sprouts and eats a ton of them. So I was thinking of getting her this for xmas? I have never sprouted, but this makes it look easy enough
for her to keep up with. It does everything from soaking and rinsing...just put the seeds in the trays. Sounds great, but would like to hear that it really IS easy from someone that has used it.
If it's as easy as it sounds maybe I'll get one too; or
maybe she'll have extra sprouts to give me, LOL ;)

Yes, I just recently got the easy green sprouter and YES it is that easy.

The only thing is that I wish I either had another one or that it was bigger so that I could make even more sprouts.

It seems like everyone else has the easiest time sprouting in plain old jars and stuff like that but for some reason or another I cannot do it that way. They never turn out right and they are either moldy or just plain gross.....go figure. Anyhow, the first thing I tried was growing wheatgrass and it was amazing how easy it was. You either need to hook it up to your sink or else fill it every 1 or 2 days to keep it full of water but other than that it's no maintence. I prefer to let it drain into my sink but you can also let it drain into a bucket or whatever you have.

I am going to start some garbanzo and some alfalfa this weekend and then after that I am going to try broccoli. It really produces nice sprouts!

I hate to spend so much $$$ on something to do something that seems to be so simple for other folks but since I have probably wasted that much $$$ in sprouts gone wrong I guess for me, it's worth it!

I know sprouting is suppose to be easy, but I am very disorganized and in and out of the house all day taking the kids somewhere. i would love something that I just put in and go without having to remember to rinse all the time, etc.
I'm sure I would have some moldy batches!

I know my MIL hates cooking/cleaning in the kitchen so thought this would be good and easy for her since she mentioned she can eat a whole pint of sprouts at one sitting.

I have an Easy Green sprouter, and I really love it, but ...
Every once in a while (about every 4 or 5 weeks), I take the motor off, and thoroughly wash the water tank, and the whole unit (not the motor). The tank gets pretty dirty after a while, and you really need to wash and disinfect it (I use Clorox, and then thoroughly rinse it out). I usually find it easier to do this chore in my bathtub (I live in an apartment). It's kind of a pain in the neck to do this, but it has to be done. I wish it was designed a little better, so thorough cleaning isn't such a chore, but overall I still think it's worth the effort. I love the fact that I have fresh, home grown, organic sprouts, grown in my little kitchen, right here in little ol' Brooklyn. :)

I have 4 units. 3 I keep with mostly wheat/barley grasses and the 4th is used for sprouting. I have been using them for about 4 years. They have made some improvements and the motors are more dependable now. I use the disposable trays in mine so I don't have to wash them up. Jeannie at easygreen can answere most of your questions at jeannie@easygreen.com They are easy to work with and have gone above and beyond to warranty and service my misting units until they got it right. Sometimes you can find a unit on ebay too!

The peanut sprouts are one of my favorites to snack on.

Anyone would think it was a great gift!

If you put filtered water in the until there's alot less build up.... I just got one too and am just experimenting. FUN!

I've been using distilled water, and sometimes just filtered water, and the tank still gets kind of cruddy after about 4 or 5 weeks. I cleaned out everything yesterday, and it seems like I always cut up my hands on the plastic edges when I do that. I have to remember to wear rubber gloves, the next time. One modification that I made that some people might be interested in, is how I put water in the tank on a daily basis. I have my unit on the top shelf of a Polder folding cart, and on the bottom shelf I have an aquarium tank with a pump and a plastic hose. The pump is plugged into an on/off switch. I have the hose always placed in the refill hole, so I just flick the switch to turn the pump on, and the unit fill with water. I find it easier to pour water in the aquarium, and use this setup, instead of using a funnel, and holding a big jug of water over the funnel to fill the unit daily. If anyone is interested, I'll take a picture of this setup and try to post it.
