WOW! The Whole Foods here just started selling Honeycrisp apples for the first time, and I tried some the other day. They are sooooooo good. I always liked Fuji and Gala, but these are so much better. They really are very crispy with a touch of "honey" flavor. I have never even heard of this variety until I saw them at the store a couple days ago. If you have them around and haven't had one yet, they are definately worth trying. I was hooked on the first bite and now Fuji and Gala just don't seem that good anymore.

This apple is also my new fav. I too was a fuji/gala gal until I tried the honeycrisp. It is sweet, crisp and juicy. Love them. :p
Yes, I must agree Honey Crisps are great...but sadly fading out of availability in Boston area. My all time fave are Ginger Golds.....AHHH  until next fall....The Golds are just like a green/yellow golden delicious but with a touch of ginger taste...I just love them!

Macouns are my FAVORITE !!!!
I just found this site that lists MANY different apple varieties:

Looked at the honey crisp and saw that it's a cross between a macoun and a honeygold, so it's probably great! :p

Yes, HoneyCrisps are my current favorite. They knocked Gala out from top spot. I also love Ginger Golds and Mutsus...I'm off of McIntoshes and Granny Smiths. Russets are interesting...sort of a mixture between pear texture and apple appearance.
Here's a little painting I did awhile ago in lieu of this thread!
