On the 23rd of August 2007 I embarked on my first juice fast and during it I discovered raw foods. A year later I had released 1/2 my body weight. My raw journey has been a lovely adventure and one I enjoy tremendously. Can't wait to take Alissa's raw food certification! Ahhhh five years... how time flies :throwhearts:
Remember as you walk your journey that it's your journey. Don't do anything that doesn't feel right for you. There isn't ONE way to do anything - find YOUR way!

One question, have you stay 100% raw food during that time or you had some step back.
I had step back but without doubt 100%raw food is the only way for me.
Congratulations for your journey, you have been brave, courageous and a great motivator filled with wisdom and kindness.

I don't look at my life as set backs. It doesn't matter what it is I'm choosing in the moment, it's never a set back.
I look at my choices (food, life, purchasing an item etc.) and I make a conscious decisions if that is really what I want to do. I mindfully make a choice. So then, when I act on that choice it's an empowered one - not one made out of a space of non-thinking. The ones made with no thought bring guilt along for the ride - ones made with mindfulness do not. ;)
I am a "go with the flow" person. I don't like living within rigid boundaries. Even when I fasted for 209 days it was because drinking liquids was what I truly wanted to do in that moment. Once a fast (or any life situation etc.) becomes something I'm forcing - I contemplate what I'm doing and where I'm going and ponder the idea of what it is that would bring me greater joy. Then I do make changes.
I've been 100% raw, 100% juice, high raw, high juice, lots of green smoothies, no green smoothies, simple raw, more complex raw recipes... but within it all... there has been a whole lot of fruit and greens.

Sorry, if i have offended you in anyway, perhaps, i should have said, if you have at time consume food that isn't 100% raw with conscious mind still during those five years?
Same here, i look at life the same and make conscious choice without guilt or judgement. This been said, i haven't been 100% raw but it has been a learning experience about the power of cook food over you.
All the best and congratulation again for your success!

Offended? Oh heck no not at all
When I work with clients I find that focusing on what they say is important and the wording of set backs to me implies something wrong. I don't believe my choices are ever wrong. If I choose to eat something then I choose it without guilt.
As to your question. 100% is a goal/ideal I don't hold for myself. Heck people can't even agree what is 100% after all. Some say agave is raw. Others agree it is not. Etc.

Hmmm
In here may lie the key to my struggles with RAW
Duh I need to set my own ideal and take RAW along for the journey, cosciously embracing it where it fits!!!
