Well, my "main meal" is usually lunch (big "kitchen sink" salad)
but I like to nosh on nut pate' on raw crackers or a wrap made with kale or cabbage leaves with veggies and nut cheezes; or maybe just some fresh ripe fruit in a bowl.
The recipes in Alissa's book are great as well. I love the zucchini "noodles" with marinara or "alfredo" or even a raw pizza, but mostly I keep it simple.

Ah, tonight is Samhain/Halloween, so we have a very special dinner/feast planned, we've been working on for several days.

We are having an Ancient Medieval Kings Feast for our family/friends

High Priestess Ypocrass -- a 700 year old spiced fruit drink

Jack Spratt surprise Appetizer -- portabella mushrooms almond butter and thinly sliced veggies, in a sauce

Fruit kabobs -- with macademia nut whipped cream dressing (Pieces of fresh fruits on bamboo skewers, that you dip in the whipped cream dressing)

Dragggon's Fire Salad, with Dragggon's fire Dressing -- tomato, cucumber, onion and jalepeno salad with sweet and spicy dressing

Hearty Stew -- a super thick, and delicious, vegetable stew, with a tomato, base, and portobello mushrooms, warmed to perfection in the dehydrator

Roast Beast -- a nut pate', in the form of slices warmed in the dehydrator

Gravy -- a thick creamy, garlicy, herb filled gravy to pour on the above mentioned beast

Sausages in Blood Red Sauce -- a wonderfully warming nut and veggie pate' in the shape of long round sausages, with a deep red sauce

Wild Boar -- a carrot, and nut pate' in the form of thin slices, warmed in the dehydrator

Spicy Nuts -- spicy dehydrated nuts

Honey Nuts -- sweet dehydrated nuts

Red & Black Wine -- a berry and fruit juice drink served icey, like a slushy

Baked Apples (not really baked, but they taste as good as)

Black Birds Baked in a Pie -- a very seductive pie/tart (a beautiful black sesame seed and prune, apples and date pie, super yummy)

Plum Pudding -- plums and bananas with a sweet crumbly topping of dates and nuts

This is our contribution to this night's feast,

I have Alissa's "idea" for enchiladas in the dehydrator. I say idea because that's where I got my "idea" from. It's not her recipe, but it's definitely a raw thing. I have them wrapped in the saved Spring Roll wrappers I made and have been saving. Mine are marinated portabellas and veggies>

I finished a date nut torte ( on the counter )

I have a bowl of dates and dried tomatoes soaking for the enchilada sauce, which is an Alissa recipe.

My husband and children are building salads.

That's what we're eating tonight. :)

I wish I was at your house having dinner tonight, rawpriestess.
I hope you post some yummy food pics.

Bananas, its what's for dinner!

I get to enjoy 40 lbs of organic bananas. No worries, I have an empty freezer just waiting to be fed what's left before they get too ripe :-)

[ How's that for being positive? :D ]

Well RP I certainly wouldn't be squeamish about eating beast, boar or blood at your house! Now is that 700 year old drink that old or is the recipe that old? Gosh, if it was that old, one sip of that would send you to the moon!

I hope you take pictures!

Fiddler! LOL - Love that! :D Need to borrow that!

I made Alissa's Rawvioli for the first time for dinner tonight, and it is so fabulous! The filling is perfectly savory, and the little turnip "ravoili" wrappers are soft and delicious. This is such an awesome dish...made me feel like a real raw food chef, lol!

I let the dish set for about an hour and marinate as I don't have a dehydrator and the rawviolis were just delicious. Mmmmmmmm. DH really liked them although he did ask me to warm them a little. :D

I'll make these again later this week as I only made a half recipe. My brand new food processor died mid-prep so gotta fix that before I can make more, so we just ate the rest of the filling with a spoon! :p

If the next batch goes together as well I'll try to post a picture.

ARGGGHHHH!!!!

OH NO, I didn't take pictures, I can't BELIEVE we didn't do that.

What was I thinking?

Blast and darn, okay, will have to make it all over again.

It only took 7 days to prepare for it. Oh, well.
**********
However, Dragggon has been planning our Thanksgiving feast for weeks, so I know that will be totally cool, we WILL take pictures of that for sure.****************
Sharon,
the recipe for Ypocrass is a 700 year old recipe, and it took me 20 years to find it.

It actually is for spiced wine, but I made it with white grape juice instead, man, it is yummy, I can't get enough of it. And I had to convert the recipe to modern English, then make a massive attempt at finding all the herbs, which I couldn't so I did my best, and mmmmmmmmmmm

it gets spicier the longer you leave it sit, and you can't drink it, until it is at least 4 days old. I've kept in in my fridge for up to 6 months, and just kept adding fresh fruit juice, every few days.

Last night I had butternut squash soup, a bit of carrot/raisin salad for dinner and apple pie. Later I "did the Dew"-Samuel's mock Mountain Dew smoothie. It was yummy.

Although everything was very good, I sureeeeee wish I was at R & D's last night for dinner!!!

Sharon, that is very similar, but mine calls for spikenard and galingale, and a few other spices, but it is VERY similar.

RP, everytime I see mention of the "roast beast", I can't help but think of the story of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas as the little Whoville folks were having roast beast! LOL!

But sounds like you had a mighty feast going on there!

rawpriestess
11-01-2005, 05:25 PM
Oh Rawkie,

it was a blast.

YEP, I loved that Grinch, when my son was little, we used to watch that poor dog, with those tied on rheindeer horns, pull all those presents up the mountain, YIKES.

I always loved Dr. Seuss. he was so totally cool.

Rawkinlocs,
THAT's where I heard it before! Man that was driving me crazy! LOL!

Rawpriestess,
Glad you had a great time. I too used to feel terrible for that little dog. :(
