I am a obese 52 year young lady who just found out in the last few months that I have major digestive issues. I can't process grains at all but I can have flax seed and chia seeds and almond meal/flour. I cannot have much dairy but I can have a bit each day. I tried different ways of eating and although I learned so much from each one I realize mostly raw is probably best. I hope!! I take 3 digestive enzymes plus probotics each day because I was getting MAJOR reflux even without the grains. So I think its messed up in there! I did go raw before but it was too much for me. I got major gas PAINS. I got bloated and couldn't handle it...so we are going slow this time and I believe the digestive enzymes will help. I believe I can begin to lost some of this weight as I am getting everything to work right!!

Welcome, Michelle. It sounds like juicing might be the best way for you to get started. Fresh juice keeps a minimum burden on your digestive system while giving your system the energy to do what it needs to do. It's also the fastest way to get started with weight loss.

I would love to juice..the only problem is electricity. I will be on the road traveling a lot and don't want to use the electric I have for my camper. I think the ones that are electric are too strong and would drain my batteries to fast. Is there a non electric one that I can use?

There are manual juicers, which are much cheaper then the electric juicers. You can get some for only $50.

You sound like a colon cleanse would probably help you a lot. In conjunction with a juice fast they can do miracles for the digestive tract. Also eat lots and lots of raw, fermented vegetables (sauerkraut, kimchi, etc). They're very easy and cheap to make yourself and can also do miracles for your digestion. There are lots of recipes online, and probably plenty on this forum if you searched for them.

Paradoxically, acid reflux almost always is caused by insufficient stomach acid (antacids just compound the problem). You might want to consider taking a tablespoon of raw, fermented apple cider vinegar with the "mother" before each meal. Acid reflux can also be caused by stress.

It's the cloudy sediment at the bottom of the bottle that is made up of beneficial bacteria and amino acids. It will say on the bottle if it has it.

I'm an RVer too. I have (4) 6-volt batteries hooked in a series then parallel and ~450 watts of solar panels connected to a 3000-watt inverter which do just fine for juicing.

If you don't have a generator, you could always get something small like this:

http://www.harborfreight.com/engines-generators/gas-engine-generators/800-rated-watts-900-max-watts-portable-generator-66619.html

It's not a bad idea to have something like this to top off your batteries from time to time also... If you wanted to get creative you could also connect a 1500-watt inverter to the batteries on your truck (inside the hood -- not the cigarette lighter) and run the juicer with the truck engine :-)

On a side note, I just got done with a 10-day juice fast and a good deal of my juice came from orange, lime, lemon, and grapefruits using a cheap $5 plastic citrus hand juicer.

this manual juicer isnt perfect imo , but the auger and screen design are good which leads to it being a solid producer .
can also search z star juicer on youtube for vids on it :

I have one of these for wheatgrass. Despite being made out of plastic, it really has been a durable juicer. Come to think of it I didn't even realize it could be used for anything other than grass :-)
