Hi everyone,

I am in the process of designing my own Tiny House and am looking to have a kitchen that is designed specifically around a raw diet. With space being such a premium I'm looking for suggestions as to what the necessities are for a raw food kitchen.

I'm not planning on having a stove so could potentially double the size pf my refrigerator or I could just take the saved space and use it for special appliances, but what appliances?

For a single person living alone with limited space, what would you say were the "essentials" for a raw kitchen, and are there any specific appliances that could perform double duty such as food processor/blender and any less conventional solutions, eg solar dryer vs countertop dehydrator?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I only use a juicer, a food processor, a knife (I use only 2), a cutting board, a blender, and a spiralizer. I still use my stove for heating water as I drink tea. But I mainly use it as a counter for more space and the oven for storage. You will have to decide if you want a dehydrator.

How wonderful to design your own space! It would depend on how much you us certain appliances in your raw eating style whether you would need certain items or not. I have my Ninja sitting out and the dehydrator comes in and out of storage. Otherwise, knives, cutting boards stored. Good Luck and Happy Designing!

I know you only need a knife and a plate for basic raw foods, but I do like to use other things, too. :)

I love my dehydrator, but it's inconvenient to use oftentimes. If I had a designated spot for it so that it could always be out and ready to use, I'd use it more often (and in a place where noise didn't matter). If you use a dehydrator, maybe that would be good.

I use a blender, food processor, slicer, and dehydrator as far as big appliances go. Maybe if you had a special counter for them to stay out and plugged in ready to go, with a sliding door to cover them while not in use (for a better appearance).

Of course knives, cutting boards, etc are great. What if you built a cutting board into your counter? It might save space and be so much more convenient.

A bigger refrigerator or having two would be amazing.

Outside of that, for me, counter space, counter space, counter space. :) I like to spread out when I'm making stuff.

How exciting! The possibilities are endless, even in small spaces. So glad for you that you can do this. Good luck with it. I hope it turns out to be the best tiny house ever. :)

I'm going to be daydreaming about the perfect kitchen now! :)
