Hola,

I just went to Mexico for 7 days and could NOT eat raw. The only thing raw there is fruit and I just couldn't eat fruit for 7 days straight. The worst part was going to restaurants every day with SAD friends. There is absolutely NOTHING raw on Mexican menus. Only in the most expensive restaurants could one get a salad and of course, we ate out 2-3x day. It was miserable.

Worst part is, I'm going to Cost Rica next week for 10 days.

How can I eat raw in Latin America?

Please help!:eat

I lived in CR for almost 3months eating raw. I learned a lot about wild foods and had an awesome time with the coconuts, cacao, fruits, wild greens, etc..

How can you eat raw? Many ways to do it. Seems like eating at restaurants is not the best way. Shopping the local markets. For example my friend found amazing deals on chia seed in nicaragua. Also where in Cr will you be around?

Hi,

I'll be in San José. Unlike my trip to México, I'll be going ALONE. Therefore, I won't have to eat out. My Mexican trip was brutal since I was with so many SAD friends. I'll stick to the markets. But, I won't have my dehydrator. Any other suggestions would be great.

Maybe it's the area you are visiting? Because there are a lot of well known raw foodists who live in South America for the specific reason that they can get such wonderful, fresh, raw foods!

I think I would be more than a little surprised if the area you visit doesn't have farmer's markets.

I hope you are right. I just can't remember visiting any farmers markets in Latin America. I've been to México, Guatemala, and El Salvador and find that most markets are indoor and very commercial. Now, China and Vietnam, that's another story.

I was in a fishing village (Los Barriles, BCS), population 1,500. There were taco stands on every corner.
