My favorite smoothies are banana based, and I like to add greens to them.
The greens do not take away from the sweetness of the smoothie, and are a good way to get greens fresh and whole without having to sit down to a big salad, but you can omit them if you like.
Here is mine:
1 banana
2 cups water
4 dates
1 cup other fruit or berries (I like blueberries)
handful of tender greens (spinach, romaine, mixed organic field greens)
Blend all except greens until "milky", and then slowly add greens (I usually add quite a bit). pour into glasses and enjoy...

My ultimate is my morning smoothie--> 2 frozen bananas, frozen mixed berries, fresh sqeezed OJ and a couple Tablespoons of Nature's First Food (the more green the better--i don't know why, but i love the taste!).
A good dessert smoothie is frozen bananas with coconut water and almond butter. You can always add cinnamon, nutmeg, a vanilla bean...etc.
Enjoy!

I have 2. I like "simple".
Tropical Smoothie
1 bag of Tropical Fruits*
apple juice
Strawberrie Smoothie
2 fresh bananas
1 10 oz bag frozen organic strawberries
*I get the Tropical Fruits bags from Wild Oats. They contain Manogs, Pineapple, Papaya and Passion fruit juice. - They are not organic and I can almost assume the passion fruit juice isn't raw, but there can't be much in there as all the fruits are nice cubes with nothing frozen around them that looks like juice.

Helen if you have a Whole Foods around, they sell the frozen tropical fruits in a bag. I think there are bananas, mangos, pineapples, and passion fruit and nothing else.

The restaurant at the hotel we stayed at over the weekend took the tropical fruits, blended them, put some blackberries (thought blueberries would have been better) in the bottom of the glass; poured the blended fruits over them, shook a lil cardamon on top and we had dessert! REALLY good! The fruit at the bottom was a nice surprise.

I'm not too much into smoothies, as I like to eat my fruit, but here are a few nut milk shakes that I like
Eggnog
2 cups almond milk
4 medjool dates (pitted)
1/2 cup ice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1" vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract
1 T olive oil (optional, but makes it taste about 10 times richer, like an egg nog)
dash of sea salt
Garnish with:
Dash of nutmeg on top
**************
Chocolate mint milkshake
2 cups almond milk
5 medjool dates (pitted)
1/2 cup ice
2 T coco powder, carob powder or cacoa powder
1" vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate mint leaves, or 1/2 cup mint leaves (loosely packed)
quick dash of sea salt
Garnish with:
dash of cocoa powder and sprig on mint leaf
***************
Caramel milkshake
2 cups almond milk
6 medjool dates (pitted)
1 frozen banana
1 " vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cardamom
dash of sea salt
Garnish with:
dash of cardamom
***************

Hi Sharon,
Nope, no Whole Foods store around here . . . Rats.
I'm guessing, though that the Passion Fruit juice is minimal. If it wasn't printed on the bag, I would have never guessed that there was any "juice" in the bag.
Thanks, though, for posting this. Others that do have a Whole Food store near them may give it a try.

SamuelWilson .... PLEASE ....PLEASE....can you give the recipe for that "DEW" drink??????
Ok, I just found it on another post...THANKS for that sharing that recipe.
Funny thing, I just bought a honeydew melon yesterday out of the blue...now I know what it was destined for ;)
Thank you!

I'm Doin' the Dew as I type.
It's awesome! ( Sam, Sam, you the Man!)
It's good, really!
My honeydew was juuuuuust shy of too ripe when I made mine; consequently, it's more watery, so I countered that with ice. Next time I make it, I'll have a ripe, but not sloppy juicy melon.
