Hello Forum!

So, I experimented with raw a couple years ago and I loved it. I stayed raw for a while, but folded under social pressures and life's whirlwind let me in another direction. One thing I retained however was green smoothies. I've always felt best in my life when I start the day with a green smoothie.

Well, I'm back - at least for the most part. I don't like the dehydrated stuff or complex recipes. I'm all about smoothies, salads and blender "soups."

Well 2 weeks in and I lost 8 of the 12 pounds I gained in the last six months. Amazing - on a 1350-1500 calorie diet and no increase in exercise from before. Now the first couple weeks I started to note an improvement in my BM (as usual when I do this). Yet, yesterday I realized that I hadn't had a BM in two days (odd!). This morning my BM was tiny. The whole thing is perplexing to me.

I started eating a tiny bit of my husband's dinner with him this week. When I say tiny, I mean it though and that was with two big meals and snacks of raw all throughout the day.

Any guesses?

See what a pint of fresh apple juice first thing on an empty stomach does or leave things to work themselves through. All raw is key naturally.

Believe it our not, it is very true that even a bite of cooked foods can and do make a difference. Bloat, constipation, and nausea are things you can possibly experience depending on how compromised your body currently is. Think of it this way - when you first go 100% raw, your body is happily working on getting rid of all those toxins. Anytime you have a nibble of something non-raw, you are giving your body even more to deal with. It redirects to the cooked food (which it targets and responds to as a toxin), and consequently, it temporarily shuts everything else down so it can focus on ridding the new toxins.

Thank you for both your responses. It is helpful to know it is the cooked food that is the problem. The good thing is, I actually lost a bit more weight. I will try apple juice for sure. My output is still not what I'd expect it to be. Guess I get to buy some apples. :)
