I love avocados. I even have a cheap source of them. I am truly blessed that I can eat one everyday.

Eating one everyday is kind of the problem, though. It has been said that you shouldn't eat today that which you ate yesterday. A little variety is always a good thing.

The main benefit that I receive from avocados is a nice, slow release of energy and a sense of fullness and satisfaction. I think this is due to the combination of fat and fiber in the avocado.

If I skip the avocado at dinner time, I end up grazing on whatever raw food I have until bed time.

What other fruits/veggies are similar to the avocado in the fat and fiber content?

Thanks in advance.

Durian is supposed to be a fatty fruit ... not tried them yet. Would like to but not found a good source yet.

Olives - you can get raw ones.

Seed pastes perhaps???

I eat lots of the same things day after day ... but I also eat some things that vary. I don't see why you shouldn't eat an avo every day!

Also, papaya.

Plantain banana ( i use them in my smoothie). When i use that in my daughter's smoothie and mine, we both crave for more smoothie. It is a very rich fruits but it seems to have special ingredient that our body loves.

Young coconut.

I would eat as much avocado as your body wants them. I feel that doing variety is great but after observing my daughter, i notice that our body likes to do that and eat about the same food for a while. So trust your taste and craving (not the addiction but the craving for healthy food).

Just tossing this in for what it's worth. I eat an avocado practically every day - so far, so good! I go through 3-7 per week...

Same here.

You are correct. There is no reason I cannot eat one every day. I really do love them.

I was curious if there was another amazing food out there that I did not know about.

Also, I think about my wife, who hates the texture of avocado. She sometimes talks about going raw. I cannot imagine being raw without my avocados, though. I was curious if there was a food I can introduce her to that she might like and would serve the same purpose (providing fullness and satisfaction). There are nuts and seeds that provide fat, but let's get real; the avocado blows them away.

fyi, I put all of your suggestions through cronometer. Olives seem to be the closest to avocados. I may grab some raw ones in case I run out of avocados. (I hate when I have a bunch of green ones that I can't eat!) Durians look very interesting though. I have never had them. They do not have as much fat as an avocado, but they might do the trick.

Anyway, I am not hating on the avocado. It is, BY FAR, my favorite raw food. I was just curious if there is anything else out there or if it is like nothing else on the planet (seems to be the case).

I got the definite impression that you loved them :)

I do!

Also, I read that Durians stink so bad that, in Asia, they are banned from some public places! I think I will pass on that experience.

We saw a durian opposite the coconuts in the shop today but very expensive so we decided to try another day. Yes they smell.

What is wrong with eating them everyday. You realize we live in post-modern times of being able to a variety of fruits and vegetables that are not native to our homeland due to technology such as airplanes, cargo ships and trucks being able to transport food around the world. Before the 1900s, pre-Industrial where import and export of foods was quite limited and extremely expensive and could only be afforded by the wealth, people at local foods, basically the same foods daily since the day they were born till the day they died. So people in the New World ate avocados on a daily basis, since it was their primary food source that was constantly around them.

From what I know, olives are raw. They are just soaked in salt. Olives are a pickled food, not cooked. I am not sure anyone wants to eat a non-pickled olive. I had one. It taste like disgusting crap. Thank god, for salt!!!

Some olives are cured with lye or have ferrous sulfate added so I wouldn't just pick any old olive to eat.

Yea I like avocado too. I don't know how to get the good ones though, the ones that don't turn black when they get ripe.

The trick is not to refrigerate them. Don't buy the one that are refrigerated.

I eat them before i need to put them in the fridge.
