Hi,

I am interested in buying some very sharp high quality knives. For awhile I have used nothing but cheap knives. Few months back I bought one of those ceramic Santoku knives. The 1st one I had I dropped it on accident and the blade broke in half. They let me swap it for a new one. Again, I dropped that one and got a little piece of the tip break off. Then I tried to cut through a corn cob and the blade chipped in several spots. So I have been thinking about buying a more expensive/higher quality knife. I like to use santoku/chopping knives the most. But I also like Paring knives. I was looking at some of those German Wusthof knives and some Japanese knives. I'd spend about $180 or so on a good Santoku and Paring knife. Anyone got any recommendations?

I LOVE my Wusthof knives - but make SURE you get the German ones - they also have a line of lesser knives made in China. Kitchen Aid makes a decent Santoku for folks needing to spend a bit less.
