am thinking it would be nice to have an ice cream maker for making coconut, nut, banana, and/or fruit based raw ice creams, but when i called cuisinart, they said their container was aluminum with a coating of xylon (xylan?)...and i am not comfortable with these materials in contact with my food...what is your experience, thoughts? do you know of someone making an ice cream maker with better materials? thanks, virginia

you can use frozen fruits and blend in a vitamix for soft icecream. Put in the freezer in a bowl you are happy with to firm it up if you want.

thanks, i have made things in my blender and food processor, but in this heat, am looking for something that will do what an ice cream maker does, with the same texture and firmness

freeze the fruit first. then blend. then put in freezer. beat with a fork as it firms up. Result is the same as if you used a machine.
