hey folks

i'm a vegan for about 2 years + now (horrible i don't remember the exact day) but I've done modified raw food fasts aka 1 cooked meal a day and i try to be mostly a raw vegan .. i'm vitamix owner green smoothie lover def eat very clean
and i think my next big kitchen purchase will be a dehydrator. Mentally i don't think (yet) i can be 100% raw but i cannot wait to start making things in my dehydrator and moving closer towards being 80% raw vegan

This sept will mark the anniversary of me trying to get into shape lost about 30 lbs so far and will continue to use the summer to bike and rollarblad working outside and not be stuck in the gym. For years i was slightly a junk food vegan.. tofu/soy person who barely worked out. No soy here and once i added exercise to my routine the weight def slid off. 5'10 female here my goal is to loose another 20 lbs to be at my BMI weight.

Looking forward to learning & exchanging info with everyone

cheers!:heart

Hi,

Congratulations on your weight loss and improved health! I live in DC too. There are some raw restaurants and juice bars that you perhaps already know about or have checked out:

Elizabeth's Gone Raw
(http://www.elizabethsgoneraw.com/)

Java Green and Cafe Green (http://www.javagreen.net/)

Everlasting Life Cafe (http://www.everlastinglifecafe.com/)

Khepra's Raw Food Juice Bar (http://www.kheprarawbar.com/) (also at another location is his vegan cafe, Senbeb, (http://www.yelp.com/biz/senbeb-cafe-washington) which has raw/living food as well as cooked vegan)

Then there are salad places like Chop't and SweetGreen.

The places I mention are all in DC itself. There might be more in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs.

Take care; best wishes to you on your health journey.
