View Full Version : Why do you use jars to preserve smoothies/juices?? Is it really convenient?

Ok, i know that plastic bottles are toxic, etc etc..
But why i see everywhere on youtube or on other websites these people that goes around
with these big jars with 1-2 liters of smoothie? Isn't it inconvenient? Shouldn't be better a glass bottle, or, i really don't know,
something else? To me seems quite "odd" to put something that i have to drink, into something with a huge "bottleneck" like the jars.. :/
Something more similar to a classic bottle seems to be a better choice in my opinion, and i would use a jar to store something else, maybe a salad.

(to be clear, i'm talking about jars like that: http://goo.gl/d8B67 )

Is there any particular reason for using these jars?
P.S. As you can understand, i'm quite new in your world, i'm just vegan, starting to learn more about raw foods and everything around it. :)
So please, excuse me if this is a stupid question..

Smoothies can be very thick so it is easier to get the smoothie in if the jar has a wide neck. Juices are obviously more liquid but even juice needs cleaning out of the container and again a wide mouthed jar allows easier access - this time for a cloth.

I agree ~ I have (adore?) wide mouth Mason jars. I pick them up (all sizes!) whenever I see them out thrifting. I usually pay no more than 25¢ each. They're glass, sanitary, reuseable and like Mystic said - very easy to clean. No plastic aftertaste.

A real treat? -Glass straws- Love them! ;)

Ooook! I understood clearly your reasons, it makes more sense to me now! And btw, i had my first smoothie into a jar today and it was really easy to carry, consume the liquid, wash the jar.. HAhahahaha.. you convinced me!! :D
