Hi,

I had ran across this website online before but didn't see Alissa's book until I saw it in a restaurant in downtown Olympia a few months ago. It was a great book!

I just completed a 2-week water fast and, as usual, get back on raw food after. This time, I choose to stick with the raw and see that there is a 30-day challenge each month in the forum here. So, that is great for support!

I've known about raw food since pregnant with my first child in 1990 and have done it on and off since then. My body feels best on raw food, no doubt. My challenge has been preparing 'short order cook' for a family, so my preferred diet has not been on the forefront. Budget has also been an issue with keep us on more raw.

However, I have aimed to keep us on 50% raw and we always buy organic. This year, we have a (too) huge garden space and lots of wild greens.

My husband and I run a meditation center and are witnessing many people gaining greater awareness. The fun thing has been to see many of them realize they don't need to each meat or that meat interferes with the greater awareness they are experiencing. Hence, I have already been studying (Gabriel Cousen's books especially) to help introduce these people to more raw foods in their diets.

Looking forward to meeting the raw fooders on the forum and getting Alissa's books.

Blessings,
Cyndi

Welcome to Raw Food Talk, Cyndi!

You will find a lot of great information here and a lot of great support. Join us in the 30 day challenge! It's my first one and the thread is already going strong. Alissa's books are wonderful, you'll enjoy them. She has such great recipes!

You may also want to check out Azure Standard (http://www.azurestandard.com) for a source of raw nuts, seeds and grains. Since you are in Washington I believe they ship free to you. They also have organic produce and tons of other healthy products. I love their #2 oranges. When they are in season you can get 38 lbs for $23!
