(I posted this on the "Other Health" section and got like 2 replies, so I'm posting it here...)

My mom is pretty sure she has hypothyroidism. The main problem with it is that sometimes when she tries to talk, her voice kind of cracks and gets very hoarse, and then she can't talk. It's very distressing for her. In a couple of weeks, we'll be visiting with a lot of family, and she wants to be able to actually carry on a conversation with them. What can she do to help her voice and thyroid? I read on here about taking coconut oil, but what else is there for her to do? Help!!!

Has she seen a doctor? Even a naturopathic one?

We used to go to a naturopath, but haven't in a few months. She even told her that she had hypthyroid, and was giving her supplements for it, which I don't know if she has any left of or if they helped or anything.

So she hasn't had blood work done to confirm that she has hypothyroidism?

Obviously, eating nutrient dense food (all raw and living) will help her.

I have hypothyroidism and have not been able to cure it thus far with a 100% raw food lifestyle. Others have, though.

I do know that raw coconut oil is supposed to help. Also, sea veggies, in particular kelp also helps.

There is no quick fix!

If she truly wants to heal she needs to make dietary changes.

She should also be under the care of someone so that they can keep an eye on her blood levels.

I'm also hypothyroid (after being hyper and having my thyroid killed). Even on 3 prescription medications for my thyroid, I still had voice weakness. Not trying to bum you out.... I'm currently 8+ months into a pretty intense detox and herb program and noticed my voice started getting noticably stronger about 6 months in.

I'm unsure as to whether there's a 'quick fix' for this...

Oh, yes, I also have the voice issues. Sometimes the frog in my throat gets so bad that if I am on the phone talking to someone I can't even tell them what's wrong and just have to hang up.... :( ....my voice sometimes just goes away completely!

AND YET my MD tells me that my blood levels are PERFECT and I should not be having symptoms!!!

I also have thyroid issues. I need to post some pictures if I can figure it out. But I had two nodules that were extremely obvious and one has dissapeared and the other is significantly smaller. I began using Liqui-Kelp daily iodine with a glass of water everyday and don't know if that has done the trick or if it is that combined with raw foods but something is working. I go to my endo on the 30th and can't wait to see how stunned he will be. I have had these since 2000!
