I saw a few youtubes of various sprouters and they look like it would be a convienient way to sprout. I was wondering if any of you have one and what you like and dislike about it. As we speak I have three different jars going on my counter but the sunflowers require a little more care and was hoping one of the auto-sprouters would be easier.
Thank you for any input:heart:

I have an auto sprouter but it is hiding in a cupboard so I do not know the brand. Regardless of what sprouter I buy I always go back to the simplest way and use sprouting bags. I think that they can not be beaten.

I got off my lazy behind and checked the cupboard. I have an Easy Green and a Fresh Life Automatic Sprouter but do not bother with either.

I keep meaning to try bags. My father raised me in the jam jar tradition and I am somewhat brainwashed to that method.

I also use the jars. I have sunflower and alfalfa going as we speak:) I just work a good distance from my house and sometimes they don't get the proper rinsing because of my schedule so I thought maybe the auto sprouter would be a good solution.

It would probably be good for you but really they only need rinsing in the morning and the evening and if you miss one evening they will still be fine. I just found it was a lot of extra work and taking up a lot of space. I use organic cotton bags that my bedsheets and pillow covers came in and I have a couple of purpose made nylon ones but prefer the cotton.

I should be able to get some at the health food shop. If not i will make some as i think hemp cloth is easy enough to get. Would have to get my treadle sewing machine going to stitch them though; maybe one of the hand-crank Singers even. I have the choice of a number of machines! Quite exciting all this off-griddery :)

Digging up this old tread because I am now using both of my automatic sprouters and think that I was an idiot to not have being doing so all along. I find the Freshlife one the best. The sprouts out of it are great. I only have a single barrel but have converted it to a double barrel by using an accessory that may have come with a microwave which is a raised metal grid that fits perfectly in to it. I put the second tray on this.

Hey Sport!
I was looking into getting the easy green and looking for comments....can you elaborate on why you find them useful now, and why the freshlife is preferred?
Thx!

Also - I'm reading you need a weekly cleaning using bleach, I don't like to be exposed/use bleach if I can do something else.
Can you explain the cleaning routine?
I use peroxide to clean my freshlife but don't use the non food grade medicine cabinet type. I sometimes have a strong pure food grade peroxide on hand but when I don't there is a brand called Proxi that has a peroxide based kitchen cleaner that is safe to use in food prep areas you may find in a local grocery store. Great stuff to use in the bathroom too but you should wear gloves when using strong peroxide or it will quickly turn any skin you get it on white as it kills your skin cells.

Thx! Is that a pic of your freshlife sprouter? How do you find it - compared to jar sprouting?
