I'm really hoping someone can help me out here, because this is really distressing me.
So, I'm not really going full on raw (nor even veggie), but I have been replacing all of my meals and snacks (except dinner) with green smoothies for several weeks now. I started with regular store produce but wanted to transition to organics only. So last weekend I went to the supermarket and the famers market and purchased quite a bit organic-only fruits and veg.
For some reason---and I just can't figure out why---something is seriously going wrong ever since then. My green smoothies every day are turning super rancid almost immediately. Up until today, I thought it was the water bottle that I was putting them in, that maybe there was something wrong with it, or it was having some kind of reaction with the produce I bought. But this morning I made another one with apple, orange, and spinach that, in less than five minutes, started to turn from a bright green to a darker shade, and smelling like very, very strong rotten onions.
I hadn't even gotten this morning's concoction near the old water bottle, so now I know it can't be that. And it can't be my blender, because I made two "treat" drinks this week with just spinach and banana and almond milk and ice, and those turned out fine. But I've used so many different combinations of produce this week, I can't determine at all what the cause could be. I've had a kale and melon smoothie go bad, a spinach apple and pear smoothie go bad, and this morning's spinach apple and orange, and at least one or two others I can't even remember now.
Has anyone else had this happen before too? If so...any solutions? I've wasted at this point over $50 worth of organic produce and I'm having to turn back to typical SAD foods because my awesome organic produce is rebelling against me. :=/
