Hi, Im here looking for advice on the green smoothie diet Ive started for myself.

Ive gone through a lot of surgeries lately and am very much in pain and healing, so I wanted to come up with an easy way to pack a lot of nutrients into an easy to digest, easy to make, filling meal, and green smoothies seemed perfect!

However, I have a few problems. One, I dont know how many calories a day I should aim for doing this? I AM trying to lose weight, but eating 1200 calories a day has caused me to wake up with the kind of bad breath you get from ketosis eating a low carb diet, why is this? I certainly get enough carbs!

And two, Im afraid some of my favorite smoothie additions arent raw? I looove to add in rolled oats, wheat germ, chia seed, and bee pollen. I know the chia seed is raw, and the bee pollen definitely is not, but what about the other two? The wheat germ says 'toasted' so I guess that doesnt qualify as raw, and I have no clue what process rolled oats go through. But these additions are my main source of calories, so can anyone suggest any substitutions or other additions I could make?

The oats and wheat definitely not raw but you could use just-sprouted buck wheat or sprouted quinoa or shelled hemp instead. I know lots of people here use bee pollen. I thought it was raw but not strictly vegan but maybe it is cooked and I just didn't realise. Never tried it so it hasn't been an issue for me.

Okay, thats a great idea thank you :) Where can I get those? Would shelled hemp be sold at a whole foods or similar store? Im guessing I would have to sprout the quinoa or buckwheat myself?

I assumed it wouldnt be acceptable because its not vegan, Im fairly certain its not cooked in any way.

Alissa allows honey but not really sure of the pollen attitude. You can sprout/soak the two mentioned and I get hemp from my local health food shop and it is specifically raw.
