YEP, I've seen this before, It is very important to NOT eat anything processed or packaged, or canned.
I also tell people the first step to weight loss, is to get rid of your TV. and radio, and magazines, don't even look at those ads.
My dear friend, was on a fast and on day 8 he watches TV, he said he saw a Burger King commercial, he didn't go out and buy Burger King, but he did go eat some processed food.

Thank you for posting this, I will forward it onto a few people who won't listen to me about this topic but might listen to it in this type of format. And yes, it is a VERY good message!

So true... Thanks for posting that video link.
I play a gig each Friday at Krogers (a grocery store) in Ky for a couple of hours and play at the end of the checkout lanes. Obviously, I get to see lots of people come through the checkout lanes.
SADly, I have yet to notice anyone come through the line who is remotely close to a RAW plant-based diet :( Next time you happen to be in a typical grocery store, notice what people are placing in their carts -- yuck. The observations are a bit better at your local health store (i.e. Wild Oats, etc).
How many of you have had cashiers ask you silly questions when they ring up only organic fruits and vegetables? A couple weeks back I bought 6 bunches of bananas and a few other organic produce items; the cashier jokingly asked if I had a gorilla at home. Now that I found a wholesaler, I buy my organic bananas in 40 lb cases at half price --- love 'em!
As for giving up TV.... hmmm, I've done that in the past when I was in GRAD school. I just unplugged it and put it in the closet. Amazing how much more free time was available. Now, I just use my DVR to FF through all the commercials. Usually the commercials are for the drugs (Lipitor, Lunesta, Cialis, Pepcid AC, etc) that could probably be eliminated if they stopped eating the food advertised in the commercials (McDonalds, Pepsi, etc).
P.S.: Ever notice the commercial for Tums, Rolaids or other indigestion aids?
Notice how the commercials always show someone eating SAD food with heartburn? Duh, if folks didn't eat the SAD food they wouldn't need the Tums. This fact just further illustrates how addicting SAD food is...
Okay, I'm off my soapbox... Just my $.02

Yah I bought about the same number of bananas the other day at a local grocery store. I didn't get the comment, but I got the look. Unbelievable. BTW, how do you get ahold of a wholesaler? I live in St. Louis. I hate commercials too, that's why I have a tivo. Can watch it when I want on my own terms.

St. Louis is probably similar to Cincinnati I would imagine. Here in Cincinnati we have several wholesalers who supply the chain grocers. We have Crossets, Castellini's and maybe a couple others I don't know about. They have walk-in sales a few times a week for a 2-3 hour window.
You might try googling or yellow pages. I was lucky because I just kept asking folks 'til I got someone to tell me the location and office hours of Crossets. Try asking your grocer's produce manager where he gets his produce from. They are usually more than happy to share that information.
Be aware that you'll have to buy in bulk. For example, 72 count oranges, 40 lb bananas, 12 pint strawberries, 24 headcount romaine, etc. Things like bananas, straberries and oranges are easy to consume but the other stuff may get tricky. You could also go in with one or more people to split the stock. At my wholesaler, they have a special truck of discounted stuff that is SOOOO cheap! (i.e. 12 pints of strawberries for $3.00). They bring out the forklift right to my truck. What a deal :)
Good luck finding a wholesaler; you'll be glad you did because grocers mark up the organic produce about 40% or more.
Oh, one more thing. If you have flea markets that sell produce --- chances are the flea market guys get their produce from a wholesaler. So you could ask at the flea market where they get there stock.

hello Douglas,
thanks! I loved the video clip, I 'll pass it on.
I've always thought this too>>>
Ever notice the commercial for Tums, Rolaids or other indigestion aids?
Notice how the commercials always show someone eating SAD food with heartburn? Duh, if folks didn't eat the SAD food they wouldn't need the Tums.
and if I remember correctly they alway suggest that you have a license to eat as much of anything that you want ... as long as you take their safe, pain relieving pills.
so yeah, if it hurts to knock yourself in the head with a hammer... some know that you should simply remove the hammer, while others still insist that you must numb your head with pills (or have it surgically removed!) eek: to be rid of the pain... ha-ha! well that's my silly, comical analogy for the day! pure senselessness!!! which you might expect from those banging hammers off their heads all the time!
