I've been eating some cooked food lately. Well... to be honest it's been pasta at least once a day. It's my number 1 comfort food! I still think I've done fairly well, esp if I was to count calories (which I'm not!). BUT there has been (almost) no weight loss (or centimetres...) during this time.

My thought was.... Might it be that my body is confused because I'm eating cooked food? That it reacts differently to nuts etc when it has to handle with cooked food?

Any ideas on this?

I'd love it if you have any tips on how to overcome cravings for comfort food too!

Regarding pasta......Alissa has a recipe for both an "alfredo" sauce and "marinara" sauce served over angel hair "pasta" noodles made with a saladacco-ing zucchini. I've also used butternut squash. It is really amazing and made me feel like I was eating the pasta comfort food. Once I put the sauce in an electric skillet and warmed it to 100 degrees. That helped me, too, for the warmth part of the comfort food.

I also make a pudding that gives me the feel and creaminess of ice cream. It is really easy:
Put the following into a food processor:
About 2-3 cups frozen or fresh berries (I prefer it with strawberries).
The flesh of one avocado (trust me on this, it makes it creamy).
1/3 cup almond butter.
a couple tbsp coconut oil (optional, for extra richness).
enough water to blend.
sweetener to taste.
vanilla extract or the seeds from a vanilla bean.
Blend until smooth and creamy! Its delicious and filling, and so
healthy you can eat it for breakfast.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tanja,

If all you are eating is pasta and the rest of your food is raw (I wonder if its at least 75%?) you will eventually lose weight, albiet slowly. If you want to lose weight in a faster way, 100% raw would be a way (like the 30 day challenge). Make sure you are getting some exercise in at least 4 days per week (like walking for an hour per day in the open air). Many people have done a juice fast to jump start this process (there is a thread on here about it). Pasta is not the best cooked thing to be eating because its processed bread basically, but its my belief that if you are eating alot of raw fruit and veggies the weight loss should happen over time. What do you think about steamed veggies and cooked brown rice as comfort food? It would work better in conjunction with the raw diet. Just a suggestion.

Peace and blessings on your journey to health.
