Hello,

From what I know flax seeds must be ground up to be digested. If eaten whole they pass through the system. Also, flax cannot survive high temperatures. Does this also apply to hemp seeds? Do I have to grind them and only put them in cold foods? Also, I purchased 'hulled hemp seeds'. Is this the best kind to get?

From a logistical standpoint it is easiest for me if I could eat all my nuts and seeds in one meal. If I eat pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds and chia seeds in one meal is this too much? Would I get all the nutrition out of the seeds or would a lot of it just pass through?

Any info is much appreciated. Thanks.

You needn't worry about heat if you buy raw supplies and use them in raw meals. I don't know why you feel you need to eat them all in one meal. Why is that?

sometimes I eat cooked food so that's why I'm asking if heat destroys hemp like it does flax seed.
eating all my seeds in one meal fits best into my schedule.

If you are in the US, I'm not even sure if you can get unhulled hemp seeds. I found a Canadian website selling them however. They say it does have less minerals and insoluble fiber but if you're eating ground flax, chia seeds and pumpkin seeds along with fresh fruit and veggies you don't really need the extra fiber from unhelled hemp. I'd just keep using the hemp you have.

As to eating them all in one meal, I wouldn't. Why not spread your fiber throughout the day? Have some for lunch and dinner, even breakfast unless you're one of those fruit until lunch people. :)

thanks for the help!

I have another question. do hemp seeds have to be chewed thoroughly or even ground up like flax? I put some in my lentil soup and wasn't
particularly mindful of chewing them thoroughly and I discovered to my horror that a lot of the hemp seeds passed right through me.

thanks again.

i think as long as they're shelled/dehulled you're fine, since without the shell they're pretty soft
