Hi
A little background, i'm 45 live in long winter wisconsin, about 90 lbs over, stress full desk job, have depression and fibormelgina. There enough sounding sad.
How have others overcome the stress and depression to do the raw fooding? I did pretty good from early Dec to end of January but hit with terrible job stress and thus depression so fell off, now I can make it 3_4 days in a row and start feeling good then fall off, my wife pushes me to eat sad food with the family..... my fault for giving in, I'm an addict of sad

What have others done to combat my problems
Thanks
Gary

I too am a stress eater. Sometimes I crave what I once thought of as "comfort food" (mac and cheese, fried chicken, backed potatoes with everything, oatmeal) but I have adjusted to having new comfort foods. I have not been raw that long, but when I feel I need comfort food my new one is Soaked Oat Groats with bananas, apples, coconut or almond milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I feel like I am having oatmeal especially when I rinse the groats in warm water.

My advice is to find your raw comfort food. Also, have you had a heart-to-heart with your wife? Maybe she doesn't understand how important this is to you. Tell her how you feel when she pushes you to eat SAD. Make sure she knows everything about how you feel about being raw. Maybe that will help her understand.

I hope I have been some help. Remember what you are doing now is way better than what you did prior to December. You are still helping your body. When you hit a road bump, roll on over it and on to the next raw meal. Best wishes to you!!!

I have to say my depression cleared up I no longer take medication and I feel great. With the medication it made it hard for me to stick to a raw diet. I have to have greens everyday or I struggle. So for a simple green smoothie blend spinach, water, and fresh squeezed Orange juice about 1-2 cups. Its a great way to start your day. I also take Garden of Life Super Greens when I cannot juice.

My adrenal glands are weakend. I am taking herbs by Dr. Robert Morse Gods Herbs and Its changing my life.

Long winters you might want to check your vitamin D levels. Start getting some sunshine each day when you can.

Have plenty of raw goodies on hand. Raw chocolate is great to have around.

Wow... and you think that's going to help inspire anyone to eat the way YOU believe humans should eat? You'd be so lucky there wasn't a shovel close to me if you treated me that way.

He doesn't see it that way sunshine. He truly believes his posts sound sensible when often times they sound manic and cranky. It's a shame because sprouted foods are very good.

hey greif and welcome!

i recently read that EPA and DHA from flax oil helps with mental issues, including depression. so you may want to get some of that. BUT, your body only converts the ALA to EPA and DHA if its proper and healthy, meaning being raw and staying raw. http://www.rawguru.com/i8.html

and i can honestly say from dealing with depression myself, i have never seen such mental clarity, ease of relaxation, and ability to concentrate in myself before, so i've been trying my best to stay raw. what i do to stay is remember: that the food that isn't raw may only bring a temporary relief, and that it won't really make me feel better, but if i have something raw it will have a good accumulative effect.

and i would recommend doing what victoura boutenko did about your family, she sat down with them, told them try it out for a week or something, and bought lots of fruits, like mangoes and bananas. i think she also made lots of different recipes for them to try. if you want to read the book where she talks about that, it's 12 steps to ending your addiction on cooked foods or something like that

good luck!

Sorry, i didn't read any reply so my apologies if i repeat with someone else.

I have overcome depression with plant food and healed fully only with a raw vegan diet. One thing you need to know, you need to go outside for vitamin D. No sunglasses, no lotion on the skin. If it is cloudy, it is the best. Morning and 2-3 hours before sunset are the best. If you are low in Vitamin D, this could lead to depression.. My B12 was low also, in those days i supplemented with nano b-complex (liquid) form. It is expensive, but i could feel the difference right of way. I got that from the tree of life website. Today, i no longer supplement. You need to make sure to work on your GI track to restore the balance and cleanse all of those mucus and plaque.

As for stress, that is life, i am still dealing with this. I think what matter is what is going on inside of you. Raw food bring peace inside of your body, which makes it easier to cope with life.

You deserve to be healthy, radiant of health and loved. Love yourself enough, to put your health first. Love this body and give it only the best.

ALL the best to you!

Yeah well, he deleted the post I was responding to so I'm sure it'll confuse others. Ah well...

I saw what he said and was shocked that anyone who professes to be pacific could dream of such physical and psycological violence. Even said in jest it made no sense. It's just not the sort of thing anyone should joke about. Don't worry Tracy raw he will be back. He gets carried away with his posts, regrets what he's said and disappears for a while but then comes back.
