Okay this may be common sense, but eh... Not for me.

If one wanted to add more liquid to like bread, cracker recipes, all the water is sucked on out, so it wouldnt alter the flavor? My least fav part of making breads etc is the spreading, so Im not talking add so much that it becomes like a wrap, but enough that its easy breezy to spread? Will it alter the ending flavor? I know that means the actual licking of the spoon wont be as good *kicks dirt* (onion bread batter is kinda my mistress, shh) but just trying to see what others may do to make spreading thicker things, sticky things easier? tips tricks tools? Sometimes it feels like trying to flatten and spread those packaged cookie dough's I used to eat from the store.

Thanks all.

It kinda depends on what youre making. If you add additional water to a dehydrated recipe, it will thin it out and be easier to spread, such as the Flax Crackers. If I want them thin like Alissa makes them, I do add a tiny bit more water to them. But, if I'm making Alissa's Calzone and you add additional water, it won't be nice and thick the way it's supposed to be. If you're making Pizza Crust that dont even require water, if you add it, you'll ruin it.

If you just stick to the recipe you can't go wrong.

I'd like to add this for what it's worth. I've got a set of 2 of these off set spatulas. This link is simply to show you the picture. I actually bought mine, Wilton brand, in the bridal section of Walmart and they were very inexpensive:

Then the other thing I do which makes such a big difference to make things easier to spread. I wet my counter top down with my dish cloth. Then I place the teflex sheet over the wet area - it will stick like glue. Then spread what I need to and then I simply slide the teflex sheet off the counter right onto the dehydator tray.

This holds that teflex sheet down and in place the whole time you're working with spreading. Unlike trying to spread it while on the dehydrator tray and it wants to go every which way and you're holding it in place with the other hand.

Thanks all...

Awesome TIP DebB... WOW gr8 tip. That's been one of my annoyances. I take the teflex ontop of my large wood cutting board, and when spreading the likes of onion bread, the sheet is always moving, and I'm always cursing.

Gr8 gr8 gr8 tip.

Bows....

I hope you find it works as well for you as it does for me Davylp! No more cursing while spreading onion bread! (wink)
