Me, me, me!!!! I am sooo glad I found this forum. Husband and I started raw foods 4/13/12 and juice fasting on 4/20/12. Since then he has lost 21 pounds and I have lost 18!!! We are truly enjoying this new way of eating. Can't wait to get to know everyone.

That's awesome, muzica! I've heard it's so much easier with a partner. My boyfriend is not raw, but he will go to raw restaurants with me, and even has learned to make a few raw dishes for me when I go to his place. What a guy

I'm in. I've been struggling with raw for a while now and it definitely shows. I feel like I've been in a funk for the past year or so and I'm soooo ready for it to go away! I started exercising again last week and already started feeling better with just that. A bad relationship and losing my job 6 months ago are partly to blame - for my funk, not necessarily the not eating raw. Of course, maybe if I had stayed raw, the funk wouldn't have been so bad.. Anyway, no use looking back, relationship is over and I am employed again, so I'm starting to feel like the fog is lifting. I'm looking forward to feeling good again.
Hey everybody! ncadotte....glad to read things have picked up for you and that being and staying raw wasn't the main issue. What a trooper you are! I remember having a talk with someone some time ago about "funks" esp depression and the main thought to combat it is to simply MOVE. So, I feel ya on that and as soon as I begin to exercise....doesn't even have to be anything major, I feel better. Eating raw just feels right at this time, so that's what I'm doing. I started yesterday. Congrats again ncadotte! Looking forward to taking the journey with everybody! :cheer:

Oy...2 days in and I'm jonzing for some sweets at work. I defintely have a sweet tooth...but I am motivated, and I find that oil-pulling seems to curb my cravings. Strange, but I'm not going to complain about it!

Just do a google search for "oil pulling" and you will find all the basic information. There are some studies, and just some random online articles about it. Here's one to start: http://www.oilpulling.org/oil-pulling/
Frankly, I first heard about it here! Though I don't remember what thread.
hey you!

It's going to be extra hard the first week as it's my daughter's birthday which means cake. I love cake.. .(sigh). Been a vegetarian for 25 years, though, so I'm familiar with the green crowd although I'm not a raw veteran. I am going to need support and I promise to cheer everyone else on, too! I haven't EVER felt this bad about my body so this is warranted. I'm beginning an exercise program to go along with the food changes. I was running half-marathons last year but this past winter did me in physically.
Okay, 'nuff about me. Thanks in advance for the support.

Okay, the official first day... and oh what a day it's been. Work is crazy! I find myself craving comfort chocolate, which means I need to make raw brownies and just bring them to work. For any new folks looking for comfort receipes, this is my favorite.
Raw Brownies
1 part medjool dates
1 part hazelnuts/walnuts/any nuts you have on hand
2 tbs of raw cacao
- Soak nuts about 8 hours. When finished, rise and dry with a paper towel.
-Soak the medjool dates for 20 minutes, or until soft. Don't throw away the soak water! Cut them into chucks and remove the pits.
-Combine nuts, softened dates and cacao in a food processer. Taste the mixture - not sweet enough? Add more dates. If you have trouble processing, add a bit of the date soak water.
- Process them until the texture is crumbly and fine.
- Spoon out brownie mixer, roll into balls with your hands and store in an airtight container.
Keeps well in the fridge.
Hope everyone's doing well!
