Hello!. I am new to the group as well as the raw food lifestyle. I started with the idea of doing a temporary all raw detox diet, but everything I have reading and feeling has made me decide a few things, one- to return to
vegetarianism: I was a veggie for many years, then gave it up, and now I'm going back. And two, to continue a mostly raw lifestyle after my all-raw detox period ends.

I am from the U.S., but living in Mexico City. THere are a few things about Mexico that make a raw lifestyle easy, and a few that make it hard. The warm climate is ideal for raw eating, as well as the super-abundance of
local, inexpensive fresh fruits and veggies, which make up my entire diet right now. What's hard is this: I have no juicer, no dehydrater and no budget to get them, should I even find them here. The juicer is no big deal, as I do have a good blender, and what I can't put in there I eat whole. But the dehydrater, and other things, like raw nuts, or nut milks, simply dont exist here. Mexican health food stores dont sell health food, only herbal
medicine, and certainly we dont have Whole Foods, which means no access to all those wonderful things like wheat grass, almond milk, dried organic fruits, etc. Also, internet orders are out of the question. The mail system is far too slow and unreliable and most places dont even ship to Mexico.

So, what I am wondering is this: IS there a way to work with cooked /dried nuts to make healther, more raw-like? Can I sprout cooked almonds? ANd what about other non-animal milks / milk substitutes? ALso, Can I dry things in the sun, and if so, what is the best way to do that? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks! Happy to be here.

you can grind in blender pumpkin seed , sesame seed , sun flower seed , every nut , hemp seed , and more into powder . then add water / blend / strain for nut or seed milks

Welcome!!!!! So glad you're here!!!

I used to be a flight attendant and I used to travel to Mexico a lot, although I never lived there. It was challenging, so you will have to do the best you can with the circumstances you have. I love the fruit in Mexico!!!! I think for you, fresh raw food recipes are the way to go. I believe cooked nuts or seeds will not sprout and really have little nutritional value. What about seeds...can you get them raw? Also, you can use Raw Almond Butter to make a nut milk, can you get that?

Do you have an opportunity to cross the boarder back into the US like once a month to get the things you need?

You can dry things in the sun, but it's probably a long process. If you master it, please share with us what you do!!!!!!

Hey..if you can find a way to make it work where you are and with your limited resources , I can totally see a Mexican raw food book in your future!!! What an AMAZING venture that would be!!!!
