Hello. Today I just got back my copy of survival into the 21st century after lending it to a friend for a year. I was going through it and realised how jaded my diet has become so I am going to start eating right again. I have some questions though
1. can one live off of various fruit and just alfalfa sprouts or is variation required.
2. I have never eaten balanced. I am 21 years old, male, 5"10 and 155lbs, blood type O+. I know everyone is differnt and needs to listen to their body but could you give me a basis on what and how much I should eat a day. I really need help with this
3. What is a good system of growing hydroponic sprouts so you have enough every day to eat yet do not grow to much and have it go bad? I want to have a consistent flow of sprouts but I do not know how much is required for daily food.
I would greatly apreciate it if you could answer these questions in depth. I am excited to start this new way of life with me and my lover.

I juice 2-3 cups of alfalfa sprouts daily. I sprout them in half gallon mason jars. I start a new jar every 2 days. I don't know how much (sprouting wise) you're interested in? I find what I do very easy and doable. I could easily do more using the same jar sprouting method.

well I want to start up a sprout/fruit/nut diet and I do not know how much sprouts I need to consume daily

I have just started to grow sunflower greens and pea shoots. They are really easy to grow and will add variety along with the alfalfa and are easier to eat. I find the alfalfa a bit strong and can only eat a little.

More variety is required. It is technically possible, but only after one has eaten a more varied sprout-based diet for quite some time. It is a more advanced diet that is not something for beginners to jump into. Add lentil sprouts, mung and adzuki bean sprouts, sesame seed sprouts, and sunflower sprouts for calories. Nut sprouts are also good. For more variety in terms of greens you can also incorporate sunflower greens, pea shoots, buckwheat greens (in moderation), and grass juices (wheat, rye, barley, oat). Start with just an ounce or two of the grass juices daily, as they are very potent. You can increase the dosage by about 1 oz/week until you are drinking a full 8 oz glass in the morning and again in the evening.

Eat when you're hungry, until you're satisfied...sorry, can't really help you there. You need to figure out how much food is right for you. Don't go hungry.

How much you grow depends on how much you eat every day. Try growing, say, a jar of mung bean sprouts, a jar of lentil sprouts, and a jar of sesame seed sprouts every day, as well as a jar of greens like alfalfa. This will give you a steady food supply. Once you get the hang of it you can start growing grasses and microgreens on soil and maybe sprouting nuts.
By the way, the above example of how much to eat is completely arbitrary and really depends on how much you eat every day. However, it's a good starting point; try it for a few days and start growing more/less depending on if you find you're still hungry, or if you don't need that much food. Eventually you'll get the hang of it.
