Hello,

I'm a little confused here. I've been a 100% raw vegan for almost 5 months now. I've lost 40 lbs. All my bloodwork is normal. But in the past few weeks my blood pressure has been high. A few weeks ago it was running 115-120/72-80, I thought since I'm doing so well I'd check at a pharmacy, it said 137/80, then 144/93. I gave it a few days, today 141/93. Why the sudden increase? My diet is low salt, no changes. Any suggestions? Should I worry? I'm depressed. It should be outstanding. :(

I have read of some people who are so stressed at the thought of checking their blood pressure that it goes up as a reaction to that stress. They are then provided with a 24 hour monitor which gives a more accurate reading.
Were you stressed that day

Sometimes them Electronic blood pressure machines will give you a false high reading. When that happends to me I get the doctor to pull out the manual one that works good everytime. Then I find out it was just a false reading. That has happend many times to me. So that might be what is going on with you too. Doug in Calif........ :)

sounds like it could be the faulty machinery but if it's not... could be stress, and there's lots of different things to reduce stress including yoga and cardiovascular exercise. I know a woman who reduced her cholesterol with yoga and meditation alone! (She was already eating well.)

You could add more cayenne to your diet, very good for lowering blood pressure b/c it is a blood thinner. Add it to everything! Or make the master cleanse drink for a morning tea. There are also supplements for this and for stress, but they are not raw. I like New Chapter because they are whole food with probiotics and the herbal supplements extract the properites of the whole herb.

Also, there is a wonderful company called Innertalk. They make cd's of all types and there are ones for lowering blood pressure and one for reducing stress. I have ones with nature sounds (the ocean) and you don't have to actively listen, you can be doing all sorts of other things including listening to music or sleeping. I have to say, I can tell they are working. I have the releasing anger cd, and have not had an outburst! I heard of them through Shazzie's website, and she grew her breast using them!

Good luck!

Yeah, I kinda lean towards not totally trusting the machine and perhaps when you go for your next check-up or just maybe scheduling one if you're concerned, having it done at the doctors before becoming too alarmed.

Kinda like when the scale at home says one thing but the scale at the doctor's says something totally different...

But I also like what stephbkr suggested as well.
