I am about 80% raw so far. The two pitfalls are organic rice cakes and eggs. I crave protein. I do not find soy healthy with all the contamination and human DNA issues in soy. Same with corn.

I also still drink tea and sometimes coffee because I have to get up very very early. However, I am working on that, too.

I am very much enjoying this journey! It is as if I finally realize that food has secrets, real food that is! I am amazed at how this changes your connection to the earth and ideas, not just your health.

I am contiuing on, marvelling at those who go 100% overnight and never slip up!

I think we all have our boundaries as to what extent we are raw.vegan etc, which is fine, I feel anything is always for the better and certain things come and go as we stay on it, this diet that is, I remember 2 years ago when I was doing this diet I used to also love eggs still but then I discover something called chunky chat masala at the Indian store and now I put a generous amount on my walnuts and let me tell you, tastes the same as a fried eggs :)

You can make delicious recipe emitting eggs with macadamia nuts (lemon juice, curry, sea salt, nutritional yeast -optional, piece of green onion). I might have took the recipe from Matt Amsden or Matt Kenney. I will have to look. So good. Good idea to stay away from soy, first it is cook and it is GMO. It is harsh also your thyroid.

Rice cake is cook and starch all the way, it is also hard on your kidney, if you have skin problem, too much protein and starch wouldn't be a good move.

If i was you, i would allow myself to have steam vegetable or beans, even then, it is addictive and you need to built yourself up toward 100% raw food.

The best protein you can get are from plant. Your body needs amino acid, FROM there, it makes the proper protein for its use. A simple tomato or a simple apple has all the essential amino acid. Green plant are packed with amino acid and chlorophyll.

You need to always be skeptical of these claims because humans...being human are prone to ego and pride and will exaggerate. Lots of people say they have gone 100% raw overnight and have never slipped up, but how many have really done that? Some folks say they have eaten 100% raw for over 20 years, but as we know, some so called raw foods are really cooked. All these claims are to be taken with a grain of salt. l'm sure some do go 100% raw overnight and never slip up (Ann Wigmore and Joyce Oliveto), but those people are highly unusual and in the minority.

l found it much easier to go 80% raw for several months before fully raw. 100% straight off the bat would have been far too difficult and l would have slipped up and ended up eating something very undesirable. No need to be a hero (unless you are on your death bed), just become 100% as you feel ready. Trying too hard will just make you become miserable.

Don't worry about the coffee and stuff. When...and...if..you are ready to take the next step, you will. No worries. No pressure.

The best thing to solve this problem is to drink a sprouted green drink with kelp powder, and have chlorella when these cravings come on, and then follow 30 minutes later with a bowl of sprouted sesame seeds. lt will soon stabilize the blood sugar which causes cravings (assuming the rest of your diet is adequate) and will give you plenty of protein. Same goes with having other sprouted foods...a great body balancer, and it will reduce your need for food also.

I also still drink tea and sometimes coffee because I have to get up very very early. However, I am working on that, too.

Do the above and you should be o.k in the long run. + keep the sugary foods very very limited. lf you eat too much stuff like sweet fruits, your cravings could go crazy.

Sprouted greens, sprouted seeds, sea vegetables and algaes the key to being good and finding it easy. They may seem like strong foods to eat at first, but the taste buds quickly develop if you don't have foods which corrupt them.

Someone suggested on a thread here a while back (I'm sorry I don't remember who!) that anytime someone thinks they're craving protein, what they're really craving is fat.

That always stuck with me, because of course I know there's no protein deficiency on raw if you're eating all your greens. But I found that by adding just a handfull or two of nuts or seeds into my daily regimen -- adding them to smoothies or soups or making creamy sauces out of them -- it really changed how satisfied I was on raw.

I also usually have an avocado a day -- sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes none. Try enjoying half an avocado instead, next time you're craving a cooked food! It really works for me, anyway.

As for my pitfalls........ hmmmm, I definitely still enjoy tea and I have coffee still when I want it. I allow myself to use some questionable and non-raw condiments -- nutritional yeast, miso, soy sauce, sometimes non-raw honey or tahini. Alcohol is definiately a big challenge for me still -- and socializing!

But the victories are SO HUGE -- the benefits of raw continue to amaze me. I might falter or stumble but I'll NEVER go back! :throwhearts:

I am about 80 percent raw now. It's amazing how your body starts rejecting foods. I use to be a coffee and tea drinker and now I love hot water. I also found when I started eating raw more that I needed to eat that way. I would feel awful if I missed a day. My skin and hair have also changed for the better. I don't know if I will ever be 100 percent raw but I would like to be. My husband has just started eating raw which is great.

Yes! I also see that my body rejects food I used to be able to eat. I am way down on craving the rice cakes. I used to eat about 4 cases a month. I ate one the other day and my mind said "This is totally dead food!" And it is.

I am onto radishes. Hundreds!! I have to peel them because they are not organic. I only live near a Wal Mart and so they are not good quality but better than none. I peel the foods that are not organic and buy organic when I can. Because we can't all live near a perfect lake with a garden! :-O
