I am trying to incorporate 100 percent raw. With that said, would you personally consider tea (decaffeinated of course) acceptable in a raw food diet. I usually drink a glass or two of chamomile tea a night to help calm me down and go to sleep.

Without knowing how it's been dried, it may not be raw. If it is, then, make it as Sun Tea and it "should" still be raw.

I totally consider herbal teas acceptable on a raw food diet. ...because you are so well hydrated though, you might tend to drink very little than when SAD eating. I Looove my herbal teas though and wouldn't trade them for the world. They are basically zero calories, so maybe that's why I don't care....same as having a tylenol or even washing your hair or using toothpaste...I don't view it as food related but still not raw but consumed. if that makes sense...lol.

I also use herbal teas! You could always dry the herbs yourself in the dehydrator if you want to ensure that they stay raw, but for me considering how low the calories are for herbs, I don't worry about it. I do use a raw sweetener to sweeten the tea, though.

Anything that is decaffienated is unlikely to be raw. If you mean naturally caffiene free then that is different obviously. I don't consider tea raw unless you make it as rev suggests and from raw ingredients. Herbs can be fresh. They don't have to be dried btw.

... considering how low the calories are for herbs.... There are a lot of "low calorie" non-raw items so, I'm confused what that has to do with if something is raw or not.

It has nothing to do with something being raw. Something is either raw or it isn't ... right?

That doesn't make it raw either. Raw is raw and not raw is not raw. Tea, made in the traditional manner isn't raw but there are ways of making something that resembles tea that is raw.

The original statement is:
I am trying to incorporate 100 percent raw.
The question for the OP is, are you "trying" or do you want to be? If so, decaf is not raw and depending on where you get your tea leaves, how they were dried (if, in fact they are) and how you prepare them will decide if it's raw or not.
The question from the OP is ~
.... would you personally consider tea (decaffeinated of course) acceptable in a raw food diet?
Many here, drink it. If you want to be 100%, then, see response above. If not, doesn't really matter what others are doing. What do you want to do?

technically it's now "raw" to the raw food community. But many raw foodists drink herbal teas, like myself. I believe it's a very healthy practice, even if it's not technically "raw".

You can get cold processed Kava tea. It is so good. It will relax you for sure. I ordered it online but don't remember where. Use google.
Grade Ginger/Lemon/Honey Warmed slightly is really good. you can use mint leave. Get creative. Last night I blended Parsley with water blended in the vitamix until it warmed up added lemon/honey strained it. It was very good. Parsley is a little strong.
Do the best you can and enjoy everyday. Raw Life is a wonderful life.
