Okay so in June I'm taking a month to concentrate on my mental health.

I have BPD as I've said in other threads and I'm really dedicated to trying to work through a lot of my really deep routed problems through a combination of detox fasting and therapeutic techniques seriously concentrated for the period of one month.

For a month I'll be quitting all tv, all unimportant social events (I wont abandon close friends on their birthdays or anything but avoiding as much as possible), all work and anything that will distract or be irrelevant to my mental health work. I'll be quitting the internet with the exception of checking in here for food support, a personal development forum for ideas and support and the BPD forum I just joined. But I'm going to limit that internet use to timed intervals. Everything will be to a schedule planned before hand. Like a retreat.... but designed by me and free.

I'm planning out everything in advance so that I'll be coping with as little stress as possible. I'm designing a 30 day mental detox course.

I'm currently brainstorming ideas for activities, therapeutic techniques and practices that I could use during this time.

The thing is I could do with some suggestions!

If anyone has any good ideas, any practices they use, anything they find useful for getting things out or working through their problems or anything they've heard of that they think could help, please share.

So far I have:
Fasting
EFT
MIR Method
Meditation
Writing 750 words each morning
Long daily walks before 12pm to think alone (I'll take a little notebook with me incase I have any significant break throughs).

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Or certain foods that they think will be useful to consume?

:pp:

All help is greatly appreciated! Once I've finished the course if it's any good I'm going to pass it on and make it available to download so hopefully other people with deep issues can use it too.

Thank you. :backhug

Puzzles are really great for the mind. My aunt swears by this website : http://www.lumosity.com/app/v4/personalization

She says she feels like a veil has been lifted from her brain. I don't do it because you have to pay $6/month or something. I want to I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But you can find lots of free puzzles on the internet (I know you're limiting your internet time, but I really think everyone can benefit from exercising their problem-solving skills). And there's something so satisfying about it! I really can't start my day without doing the crossword first.

I try to do a cryptic crossword every day with my BF but if you like writing then perhaps make a bit more of a challenge by choosing to write a sestina for example. Great fun to write but a lot of thought about the structure and language has to be given to it.

That's an angle I never thought of. Not necessarily deeply emotional but it probably would be good to do something each day that uses my mind in a different way to the rest of the work. It may help give some balance and bring clarity.

I also love crosswords. I'll add that to the list! :)

Hmmmm.... as far as what foods might be helpful, I think foods that increase feelings of happiness and well-being might be good. Like cacao and cashews.... also foods high in the omega oils, which feed the brain -- chia's a great source. I'd research and see what other foods affect your moods and seratonin levels.

B vitamins are important, too!

Be careful with fasting. I have personally known people that have gone into a psychosis from fasting. It's just too fast of a detox for some people, especially if they come from an abusive background.
