Is that part of detox? My lips feel like they've been sunburnt, my whole face and body feel itchy and I feel really cold! I hope this isnt candida returning and that its only part of detox...
I would venture to say these symptoms (skin and lips) are acidic toxins detoxing from your body. Ride that pony!!

I went through the itchiness and dry lips too. That went away, but I am much colder than I used to be. This doesn't bother me one bit. I live in California and don't really like the heat too much. I hope it keeps up; it will come in handy for summer. :)

I had the same thing. Now my legs are the only part that gets itchy now. Freak in acid.

itchy skin is often a symptom of an unhappy liver. If you don't normally have itchy skin then I would expect the itching to subside after a few weeks, maybe less, on raw.

Or how about a liver cleanse? They're easy-peasy to do!

liver cleanses sound straightforward enough but I am never really sure how they cleanse the liver specifically. Lowering fat intake and eating cleanly should cleanse the liver anyway.

3 ways for toxins to escape the body. We know about going #1 and #2 and now you have learned about #3. When I went through the detox, I couldn't believe the dryness and even had splotches on my arms and back. It'll be over soon. It's actually neat to experience what the body can do when given a little raw encouragement.

This really is amazing. Any other time I've gone raw I've never really experienced too intense of a detox (at least not that I was conscious of). I'm noticing some serious moodiness too. BUUUT I absolutely love eating raw so its worth it. MysticTree, you mentioned that lowering fat intake helps cleanse the liver. I eat a good amount of fat. But it I dont eat fat, I'm really hungry all the time. Its when I have a raw dessert made with nuts or an avocado that I feel satiated. What are good alternatives to fat that will help keep me satisfied?

The flush I did was a liver & gallbladder, but since my gb's been removed it automatically turned into a liver flush (wink).
I believe that's true too Georgina, that eating this way will go a long way to cleanse the liver. I've been eating this way for 4+ years and only passed 35 (that I know of) stones from my liver, which is moderate results. I think I would have passed a lot more had I done this 4+ years ago. I did the flush a few months ago..

I understand your logic but it presumes a liver that is fundamentally operating OK to begin with, albeit not at peak performance.
However, many folks who consider liver cleansing do so precisely because some degree of ill-health has led them to seek out possible natural treatments to remedy their ill-health. Some of these people may have their liver function compromised to a more significant extent, and this may or may not be due to one or more complications such as physical intra-hepatic obstructions (e.g. congealed deposits and/or liver flukes, etc.), disabled enzyme pathways (e.g. due to displacement of essential mineral catalysts, as can occur with Mercury intoxication), physical cellular damage (perhaps due to serious toxic insult of an acute or chronic nature - again, heavy metals may be to blame, or other chemical exposure(s), alcohol abuse etc. And so on and so on.
The point being that for some people improved diet will eventually achieve worthwhile improvements in liver health and function. I certainly don't dispute that. But for others, more concerted efforts are required in order to rectify their poor liver function, and, in certain cases, there may also be the serious consideration of time constraints (e.g. in the case of malignant cancers).
For all this, I'm still not a fan of 'gallstone' flushes, as I've discussed recently, elsewhere on the forum, with aviatrix. They have their place, but I feel that unless one is in a major hurry to rectify poor liver function, it is better to take the more measured, but still concerted, route of taking potent herbs to assist the liver in (depending on the specific herbs employed) breaking down congealed or hardened deposits, promoting increased bile flow (toxins which the liver cannot detoxify, generally tend to be purged via the bile, into the bowel and excreted with the stool, although a proportion of bile is generally recycled without being excreted), protecting liver cells from further damage (milkthistle is one classic herb for this protective purpose), promoting/stimulating increased detoxification, building the bile pool, etc. etc.
These herbs really do work; I've experienced their many positive (and potent) effects, firsthand, and you know from my presence here on RFT, that I've been eating generally very healthily for a number of years now. Diet alone has not been sufficient to rectify my serious liver/biliary/pancreatic issues. Herbs have made, and continue to make, a huge difference.
I don't claim to be a world expert on the topic but I know more than some, since I've had to learn in order to improve my own health issues. I'm sure you're read what I posted on the topic, many months ago.
All I can say is that if you have genuine reason to suspect you may have bona fide liver issues, then of course get yourself tested by your medical doctor, but also seriously consider what an extended herbal liver detoxification program might do to help you.

Apply RAW coconut oil, it is so miraculous what that oil can do to your skin.
