One year ago today I was 70# heavier (I told my story on 112411). Thanks to juicing, raw foods and( I thought I would never say this),the vegan approach to nutrition I have become a healthy, energetic and happier man! This my sound like a cliche, but this journey began because. I was literally sick and tired of being sick and tired. I get it! For nearly six months my weight has stayed the same. My BP, now is 115/65, with a resting pulse of 50. As you can read in the movement threads this has become a part of my life, just as it was 14 years ago. My workouts are short, intense and consistent. And I feel great, There is no way I will fall back into the SAD way of life again.
Thanks to many of the contributors on this site I have learned a great deal. I began soaking almonds (thanks to MI Roman) and making almond milk for my morning smoothie. I enjoy Kettle bell workouts (thanks to Revvell) for guiding me to Zenkahuna (former Jarhead) and his primal approach to workouts.
I have taken responsibility for my health and realize we are what we eat. Dr. Furhman's book Eat to live, is the principal I follow when I am not eating raw. It is so simple and makes sense. I make no excuses, in fact I find reasons to take my nutrition to the next level.
My travel schedule forces me to plan what I will be eating. I load a box with a blender, apples, sweet potatoes, and nuts and seeds and put it in the truck. Work requires my A game at all times, there is no room for errors, mistakes or oversights. So nutritional stress (Thrive, by Branden Brazier) is not part of my daily life. if I am going on vacation I pack a Magic bullet. No excuses. At times I have eaten SAD and paid for it. But I don't worry because things will be back to normal.
I don't deal in hope, as Hope is not a strategy, but my intent is to inspire someone to do something small for themselves and once you take that step you will be amazed at what you are capable off. Your family will appreciate it. Find your niche and stick with it you may surprise yourself.
By the way I can pass the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test (PFT). I am working on the Combat fitness test next and I will be 52 in 5 months GET SOME AND DON'T LOOK BACK!
