I've just spent a weekend in extreme pain all around my gums and teeth. The emergency dentist tells me he THINKS it's because I'm grinding my teeth at night I'm stirrin up my gums. I know I do grind my teeth but can't stop it while I'm sleeping, anyone had this problem.

My daughter has this problem and her dentist had a small clear mouthguard made that she wears that keeps her from doing it... Don't think there's anything else that would really work because, like you said - you're asleep!
It's doesn't 'cure' the issue, but keeps you from more irritation (in her case TMJ issues).

I grind my teeth and wear a mouthguard from my dentist at night. For the longest time, I didn't believe it when my dentist said I grind, and now that I'm married and sleep with someone, it became very obvious!
My husband grinds his teeth also. He wore the night guard I think twice and then doesn't wear it any longer. A word of advice - he has ground his teeth down to the point where he's had to get crowns on many of them because of the grinding...

I recall reading that grinding teeth while sleeping is commonly from having parasites. And if I recall correctly it's pinworms that cause it.......but not exactly sure which parasite it is that does it.
The good news though is that you don't need to know which parasite it is. Just take the steps to clean up your internal environment and eradicate the parasites at the same time and you'll get em. Maybe sooner, maybe later....but typically it's an on-going process that takes more than eating some garlic or taking a couple herbs for a few weeks. Basically it takes some effort and you need to stay consistent with a clean diet and with the herbs to get rid of em. If you visit curezone and check out barefoot's forum chat with him. He seems to know his stuff, and he'll tell you the truth that herbs alone aren't enough. You also must stop feeding the parasites the garbage, and have a clean internal environment.

I have a mouth guard that is comfortable enough, but I forget to put it in half of the time. Not sure how to get in the habit.

try breaking 3 teeth, needing root canals and crowns - you'll get in the habit real fast. LOL

I was afraid that was going to be my answer, I booked in yesterday to get a mouth guard fitted, $300 later. My feeling is parasites too but here in NZ it's really hard to get a suitable worming product that will do the trick without having nasty chemicals in it.
Thanks everyone appreciate the advice.

Hi Patch ~ If you're looking for a good parasite formula, please check out Nature's Botanical Pharmacy (http://drmorsesherbalhealthclub.com/shop/index.php/herbal-products-by-dr-morse.html?limit=32&p=2). This links you to the page that shows Parasite G and Parasite M. You can click on each to see which or (or perhaps both) are better suited for the type of parasite you think may be the culprit. You might like to watch Dr. Morse on YouTube (robertmorsend). I've learned more about detox and cellular regeneration from him than anyone else.

Why would you suspect pinworms? Do you have an itchy arse? The link with pinworms is related to infants, they crawl out of their bum at night while they sleep, the baby gets itchy and it grinds it's teeth... supposedly.

I periodically grind my teeth also and always assumed it was stress related this is a new one on me and must check it out.

Stress, anxiety, and food sensitivities can also be a cause. It does not particularly mean one has worms. I have found foods to be my cause. Was tested for parasites around the time of getting mine and none were found.
If it was not explained to you very well, bruxism or grinding can cause the enamel to chip off the base of your teeth. Imagine a tall building swaying due to an earthquake and the brick face crumbling near the foundation because of the flexing of the structure. That leaves dentyn exposed and teeth sensitive. You can wear through gold crowns, erode fillings, release mercury from amalgams (something dentists don't agree with but some folks believe) and yes break teeth. I use the NTI-TSS biteguard and it has really helped with a multitude of symptoms.

Yes - I forgot about my husband's teeth having very little enamel left as well because of the grinding... (until I read your post that is ;)

I grind my teeth and my jaw pops.. I got braces late in life hoping to correct this problem. They didn't help and actually made it a little worse. I've had all my mercury fillings removed and have done metal cleanses. I've also done parasite cleanses.
I still grind my teeth.. I have finally put out the money to get a night guard. I should have mine next week. We'll see if that will help.
But agree with streetsurfer.. I also have stress issues and I am working on learning how to handle stress more effectively..

Thanks everyone, I'm off to get a night guard fitted tomorrow. I've had a filling taken out and replaced as they thought it might be that causing the pain but no it didn't help so the guard is the next thing. $300 later better work.
