At least new to me... they have been around for quite some time apparently.

Over the weekend we were at a "GreenFest" and one of the displays was for the EarthBox (www.earthbox.com). It is absolutely the best thing since.... while RAW, lol. Small space, VERY little care and grows pretty much anything. You set it up. Water once a WEEK! Gotta love it. And while not dirt cheap (no pun intended) it is fairly reasonable in terms of use and longevity.

No affiliation and I don't own one yet, but I'm gonna get one as an addition to my barrel garden. Way more user friendly if you have space or weight issues. they also have a vertical garden set-up which I saw on the website, but not in person.

Has anyone had any experience with this??

I've built several SIPs its pretty scalable I've never owned a earthbox but self irrigating planters are easy to make and work well

Thanks for the link. I'm going to check these out. We want to grow veggies but we live in a mobile home park and aren't allowed to dig the ground for a garden.

We live in a park as well in SWFL and I have a barrel garden and plan to add these. Looking forward to next year.

if you can find some more barrels you can make them in to self watering pots
http://youtu.be/oxrfispygDI that way you can save your money and buy the best soil components possible

Tannim, you got me interested in SIPs. Thanks. I think I'll make my own. To think that I just threw out like 6 of those stupid tubs! They aren't so stupid now.
