Having just come off of a 14 days juice fast into raw, this morning I woke up with horrible swollen glad on the left side of my neck. Have been putting a heating pad on it all day. During my fast I notice tons of mucus in the back of my throat but in no way do I feel ill or have a sore throat. Has anyone experienced this type of detox systom before or am I the lucky one. Detox is a very weird thing. I am happy in an odd sort of way to see how bad things were before raw inside me. Knowing that I'm taking awesome care of myself now makes me feels good but this hurts...

You might try oil pulling to ease the discomfort. Oil pulling will work the neck muscles and I believe help purge the lymph glands in your neck through the massage they get during the practice. There are something like thirty two lymph glands in your neck below the jaw which will be subjected to the pumping action of pulling. It makes sense that the area might become sore during detox (or you might be fighting off an infection-lots of sinus and throat crud going around here these days). Oil pulling should also help draw the mucous from the throat and help you expell it. I often have phlegm come up during pulling but it's not something I do regularly, rather when I begin to notice swelling, congestion, or feel like I'm catching something.
I should add too, drink lots of water to help keep the lymph transit system flowing well. Not just juices but get plenty of water.
This is a classic detox symptom - you're moving lymph and that's what you want! You can do a castor oil pack on the swollen lymph gland and that may help move the lymph out of it. Be glad that it's moving out - you don't want this stuff in your head!
And yes, I have experienced it. I'm 5+ months into an intense detox. The first week I was fasting and taking herbs. My lymph glands swelled like I did as a child with the mumps, I had flu like symptoms. My sinuses were very sore to the touch. I wish it would happen again - I want this stuff out :) Wishing you all the best!

Well, thank you both very much for your replies and the helpful information. I have to say it's hard to see how with raw and fasting what it is that I really did to myslef all these years. Clearly the signals are there it is much damage, and to know it is lurking in me...I agree better out than in.. It's kind of scary to see what fester deep in me. I have never had a swollen gland in my life. At first I thought it was a pulled muscle when I woke up only to realize it was under my neck and down the side somewhat. With the heat compresses it feels better. I will start oil pulling asap as well as the castor oil packs.. Thanks again ladies I appreciate the encouragement and the help..
You're welcome Karen - keep it up! Detox=good :)

DebB- Just got home from my local store. Had to run out and get me some castor oil. Made my own oil pack and am still here with it on under a heating pad. Feels really good. Thanks for the suggestion. Thinking I may start a fast again to speed this up a bit. Thinking of joining the other in the Monday fasters for the day starting tomorrow. Juice and heating pad is a detox dream.
I just want to second DebB's good advice regarding castor oil packs.
I would also suggest you consider including the liver area in your castor oil pack regimen, as the liver is the primary organ for detoxification (the skin us the largest).
For stimulating lymph flow, rebounding on a trampoline can also be very beneficial.

Lymph fluid won't move around on it's own like blood does. There's nothing to pump it so to speak. You need to make it move. Rebounding is good, stretching is good, contrast showers are good, light exercise is good, basically getting the muscles to contract and relax will get the lymph to flow. Drink lots of clean water too, it's good.
Awww Karen - I'm so glad to hear that the castor oil pack (and heating pad) is giving you relief, that is good news :) That castor oil is thicky goopy stuff, isn't it? Did you heat the castor oil pack before applying it? I do by putting the soaked castor oil pack into a mason jar and then heating the jar in simmering water...
I finished up an 11 day all fruit fast and look forward to more of these, but next time I plan on waiting until more of the summer fruits are available, that will make it easier for me to fast.
It's all about *moving that lymph*!! I'm learning so much about this from Dr. Robert Morse ND on his YT channel, robertmorsend.
If you'd like to, I'd like to know how you come along with this Karen!

No problem DebB. I will let you know how I am coming along. i did not heat the pack last night but I will be sure to do this today. I just put it on my neck with the heating pad in a sack and then put it one my neck. I just woke up and the gland feels somewhat better but it's still swollen and sore. I will be drinking fresh juice today, along with water and taking it easy to assist myself in the detox.I am going to check into Dr. Robert Morse. I have never heard of him before. he seems like someone I need to be watching. thanks for the suggestion..
Arky and Fast Freedom - Thanks, I wil put a pack on my liver as well. Great suggestion. The first day I felt the gland swell I did yoga to get the lymph system rolling so to speak. I will continue to do some yoga. I don't have a rebounder but I do have a yard tramploine but of course it's raining and cold today. One day it's 80 degrees and the day I need a tramploine it rains and is cold...

Dr. Morse has 40 years experience and his clinic specializes in detox, then cellular regeneration. So interesting!
I was doing c.o.packs over my lungs, so I would heat the c.o.p., place it over my lungs and then I put a kitchen garbage bag (large pack to cover) over that, then heating pad, then a blanket to help hold in the heat. I would try to keep it on (resting, watching TV) for 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Best wishes and love following how you're doing. I also do yoga - it's wonderful, isn't it?

DebB- So I just got home. Had a big day planned of co packs and then we got a call from my husbands brother. His son ( my nephew on husbands side was killed in a car accident at 21) We just got home from Shock trauma and now my swollen gland is huge from stress and lack of care today...Not to mention that I ate a non raw item at the hospital. I'm not going to beat myself up about it but at the same time hate the fact that I did it. Getting ready to take a hot both and then some C. o. packs. Life is precious everyone who is reading this. My husband stopped on the way home and got me a bananna and some herbal teas. He is a good man.
Thanks again for the advice. Hooking my laptop up and getting ready to watch the Great Lymphatic System part 1-5. as I take my hot bath. I have a huge counter top.. Stress is an awful thing.
Oh my goodness Karen - I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of your nephew. Please accept my condolences, I understand that today is a sad, sad day in all of your lives. I wish you peace as you deal with what's on the horizon.
I can certainly understand how the stress and shock of today has caused the swollen gland to be even more so. It sounds like you've got a good plan with the warm bath and co pack and viewing The Great Lymphatic System...
My thoughts are with you and your family. Big loving hugs to you all. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss ~

DebB- Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. It's funny how you wake up one way and then something turns your world upside down. On part 4 with numerous interuptions from my kids but almost done. Great information.. Can't wait to view his other works..
I did pray for you and your family Karen and you picked up on that without my mentioning it.
Life is fragile and I can certainly understand that your world has turned upside down. It's always hard, but moreso when someone so young is involved.
Just a word about Dr. Morse. He's a highly spiritual man and if his spiritual views are not in sync with your beliefs, please set his comments to the side and still listen to what he's teaching about our lymph system and detoxing. I believe this really is "the golden key" to regaining a high level of health.
All the best - my thoughts and prayers are with you all Karen ((hugs))

DebB I have had a five year mucus from my lung issue, do you think the fast will work for this?

Oh, that's Great Sir !!
DebB I have had a five year mucus from my lung issue, do you think the fast will work for this?
Hi julsim ~ I can only relate my own experiences. I cannot recommend for someone else as I'm not experienced enough.
I'm now 8 months into my detox. I drink a "Lung Tea" which consists of equal parts of mullein, fenugreek and pleurisy root (all dried). The suggested amount is 1 teaspoon steeped for 5 minutes in 2 cups water. I however use 1 heaping tablespoon.
I'm drinking this daily to help break up and expel the congestion in my lungs as I am an ex-smoker.
After I brew this for 5 minutes, I turn the burner off and cover my head with a towel and inhale this for 5 minutes. I alternate breathing it in through my nose (to help with my head congestion) and through my mouth (to help with my lungs).
I'm also on a detoxifying diet of eating all fruit during the day and a raw veggie dinner.

DebB, I've had the same issue with my lungs, especially living here in Florida (lots of pollen!). I do apple cider vinegar inhalation in the mornings for 10 minutes, depending on the strength and that seems to help alot! also sipping on it better sleeping helps alot as well, when I wake up it seems to have cleansed.
