I'm a young adult with normal weight and average height, from Turkey. Actually I'm a very health conscious person and I like to be slim but since some time I took some weight and I started dieting.
Why I am here is, my mother has bought some nettle cut like parsley and I was wondering how that could be eaten and I found a topic about it here, and I think here can be a good site to communicate about food and maybe find some recipes fitting to my taste and preferences.

To start with, what do you eat raw?
I eat
-Cruciferous vegetables
-Spinach, chard, beet
-Cucumber
-Pepper
-Fruits
-Nuts and seeds
-Olive oil
-Organic egg
-Wild salmon or alaskan whiting(always with strong antibacterial food like onion and hot pepper if raw)
-Mint and spices that are dried vegetables
preferably raw
I'm not sure about how to eat mushrooms, I've been using them raw in my salads because it's easier.
I don't have a prefered way of eating tomatoes since heat greatly increases lycopen availability.
I prefer spices like turmeric or ginger added to some boiling liquid unless recipe is totally raw.
I eat
-Pumpkin, zucchini
-Legumes
-Wild Rice
-Jerusalem artichoke
-Potato, Eggplant
only cooked

And when it comes to nettles, I'm convinced its leaves can be eaten raw but I'm not sure about the rest.

Is there anyone doing something different for a reason ?

Hi and welcome!

This is a raw vegan board, so we don't discuss eating animals or cooked foods here. :D

There's a monthly challenge thread where lots of us post what we've eaten each day, that might give you some idea of what other people are eating. There's also lots of recipes listed you might find helpful.

This is a great place for information and support!

Welcome and enjoy! :heart

I'm always saying this but you should check out Alissa's book, Living On Life Foods.

It's got tonnes of easy recipes for people who aren't hardcore raw yet or people interested in raw. The don't involve loads of fancy equipment.

There's also TONNES of really great information in there if you're thinking about going raw.

Pumpkin/squash and zucchini is great for making raw "pasta" dishes. If you peel long thin strips with a vegetable peeler or use a spiralizer then you can make fantastic nutritious raw pasta or noodles. Then you can add a tomato or nut based sauce on top. So delicious and sooo much better for your health than regular pasta.

There's lots of recipes for that sort of thing in Alissa's book that are very easy. There's also options for healthy deserts and treat that are guilt free. Things like blueberry cheesecake and strawberry pie all made from raw fruit and nuts and ingredients that are better for you body unlike unrefined sugars, dairy and bad saturated fats.

You should also look into sprouting as a great new ingredient to your meals, one of the best things you can eat for you health!

I'm a young adult too and going raw has been one of the bes things I've experimented with for my health. It's brought on a lot of great personal changes and hopefully it will become a permanent lifestyle. You should join us in the 30 day challenge and just try it! :D
